The Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Asangathit Karmkar Gambhir Bimari Chikitsa Sahayata Yojana is a welfare scheme run by the Chhattisgarh Unorganised Workers State Social Security Board, which functions under the Labour Department, Government of Chhattisgarh. Its purpose is straightforward - to help workers who operate outside the organised sector, and who usually have no regular insurance or financial safety net, meet the cost of treatment when a serious illness hits them.

The millions of people working in the unorganised sector- construction labourers, agricultural workers, domestic help, rickshaw and cart pullers, hawkers, loaders and the like - typically have uncertain, irregular incomes. For them, the cost of a major illness is often simply out of reach. This scheme is designed to bridge that gap by providing a one-time financial assistance for treatment to eligible registered workers.

In brief, under this scheme, an eligible registered unorganised worker receives medical assistance of up to ₹50,000 (or the actual treatment expense, whichever is lower) for the treatment of serious diseases such as cancer, kidney (renal) disease, heart disease, AIDS, paralysis, and sickle cell anaemia. The benefit is available to workers aged 18 to 60 years who are registered with the board (generally for at least 90 days before claiming), and the sanctioned amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The application is made online through the Chhattisgarh Labour Department's shramevjayate portal / mobile app.

• This support helps the worker avoid spending personal savings or borrowing at high interest, so the family can recover financially after treatment.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Chhattisgarh.
• The applicant's age must be between 18 and 60 years.
• Must be a registered unorganised worker with the Chhattisgarh Unorganised Workers State Social Security Board.
• Registration should have been completed at least 90 days before applying for benefits.
• The worker should be suffering from one of the notified serious diseases covered under the scheme.

Since eKYC and Aadhaar verification are being enforced from July 2026, having an Aadhaar-linked and updated registration has, in practice, become an important requirement.
