Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Chhattisgarh Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Swasthya Yojana (SVNSASY) is the flagship health assurance scheme of the Government of Chhattisgarh that aims to provide quality healthcare services to eligible families without causing financial hardship. Implemented by the State Nodal Agency (SNA), Directorate of Health Services, Department of Public Health & Family Welfare, the scheme operates in convergence with Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). It enables eligible beneficiaries to receive cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals for a wide range of approved medical and surgical procedures. The scheme was earlier known as Dr. Khubchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana and was officially renamed as Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Swasthya Yojana by the Government of Chhattisgarh in June 2024.

Under the scheme, families belonging to the SECC (Deprived Category), Antyodaya, and Priority Ration Card categories are eligible to receive cashless health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family. Other eligible ration card holder families of Chhattisgarh can receive cashless health assistance of up to ₹50,000 per family under the State Health Scheme, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

For patients suffering from serious and life-threatening diseases that require treatment beyond the coverage available under the health insurance scheme, the State Government also operates the Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. Under this scheme, eligible patients can receive financial assistance of up to ₹25 lakh for the treatment of notified critical and rare diseases, ensuring that patients requiring high-cost medical care continue to receive financial support after exhausting the benefits available under the health insurance scheme.

To avail cashless treatment under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are required to complete beneficiary verification through the Beneficiary Identification System (BIS). After successful verification, an Ayushman e-Card is generated, which can be used to receive treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals. The hospital verifies the applicable health benefit package and obtains online pre-authorisation, wherever required, before providing cashless treatment. Through its paperless claim management system and network of empanelled hospitals, the scheme ensures timely access to quality healthcare for eligible beneficiaries.
