Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas Scheme is a flagship youth empowerment initiative launched by the Government of Karnataka to establish approximately 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas across the State's rural and urban areas. The Government has approved the scheme with a total financial outlay of ₹1,010 crore to strengthen grassroots youth organisations and promote leadership, community participation, sports, cultural activities, scientific temper, responsible citizenship, and social harmony among young people. The scheme will be implemented by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports in coordination with the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Urban Development Department, Revenue Department, and Education Department.

Under the Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas Scheme, the Karnataka Government will provide an annual grant of ₹10 lakh to every approved Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha to conduct youth development programmes and community activities. Instead of offering direct financial assistance to individuals, the scheme strengthens local youth organisations by providing institutional support. Each Sangha can appoint one trainer, who will receive an annual honorarium of ₹24,000. Every Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha will have 100 to 250 youth members who will participate in sports, cultural programmes, leadership development, community service, scientific awareness initiatives, and awareness campaigns on important national occasions such as Independence Day and Republic Day.

To ensure wide coverage across Karnataka, the Government has prescribed population-based norms for establishing Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas in both rural and urban areas. One Sangha will be established in every Gram Panchayat, while urban local bodies will have Sanghas according to their population. The operational guidelines also allow Sanghas to use Government-supported infrastructure, including schools, colleges, community halls, and playgrounds, for conducting approved activities and youth programmes.

The operational guidelines have defined the eligibility and membership process for joining a Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha. Youth aged 16 to 35 years who are ordinary residents of the concerned Gram Panchayat or Urban Ward can become members, and each person can join only one Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha. Eligible youth can register through the official Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha Portal. The online enrolment process requires mobile number verification through OTP, Aadhaar e-KYC, entry of address details, selection of three areas of interest, and payment of a one-time ₹10 registration fee. After completing the registration, members can download their Membership Card.

Scheme Benefits

• Approximately 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas will be established across Gram Panchayats and urban local bodies throughout Karnataka.

• Encourages active participation of youth in community service, local development initiatives, and nation-building activities through organised Sanghas.
• Strengthens coordination between Government departments, local bodies, and youth organisations for the effective implementation of youth empowerment programmes.
• Supports youth participation in Government-recognised sports, cultural, educational and community development activities.

Role of Trainer

Each approved Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha may appoint one trainer to support the implementation of activities undertaken by the Sangha. The Karnataka Government has approved an annual honorarium of ₹24,000 for the trainer. The appointment and functioning of the trainer will be governed by the operational guidelines issued under the scheme.

Formation of Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas

Each Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha will function under a 15-member Executive Committee constituted in accordance with the operational guidelines issued by the Karnataka Government. The committee will oversee the functioning of the Sangha and ensure representation as prescribed in the guidelines.

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years of age.
• Applicants must be ordinary residents of the respective Gram Panchayat or Urban Ward where they seek membership.
• An individual can become a member of only one Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha.
• Aadhaar is mandatory for registration as a member of the Sangha.
• Membership and representation within the Sangha will be governed by the operational guidelines issued by the Karnataka Government.

• Address details for completing the registration.

Note: The official Bharat Jodo Yuva Mission enrolment instructions do not specify a separate upload of age proof or address proof during the online registration process. Applicants should provide the required details accurately during e-KYC and registration.

Steps to Apply

Eligible youth can apply for membership in the Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas either online or offline. Online registration is available through the BJYS Portal and BJYS Mobile App, while offline registration can be completed through designated citizen service centres.

Online Registration Process

Eligible youth can register for membership in the Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha online through the official Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha Portal. The official enrolment process requires mobile number verification, Aadhaar e-KYC, address details, selection of interests, payment of the one-time ₹10 registration fee, and downloading the membership card after successful registration.

1. Visit the official Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha Portal. 
   
2. Click on the "Join the Mission" option to start the membership registration.
3. Enter your mobile number and click on "Get OTP". 
   
4. Enter the OTP you received on your registered mobile number, then click "Verify OTP".
5. Select the e-KYC checkbox, then click "Start Aadhaar e-KYC".
6. Complete the Aadhaar e-KYC details and click on "Save & Next".
7. Enter your present address details as required on the registration page.
8. Review the Sangha details displayed for your location and click on "Save & Next" to join the mission.
9. Select your interests and choose three topics in which you would like to participate.
10. Pay the one-time registration fee of ₹10 to activate your membership.
11. After successful registration, download your Membership Card to complete the enrolment process.

Important: Aadhaar e-KYC is an essential part of the online enrolment process. Applicants should keep their mobile number and Aadhaar details ready before starting registration. The official enrolment instructions also require members to pay the one-time registration fee to activate their membership.

Offline Registration Process

1. Visit the nearest Grama One, Karnataka One, Bengaluru One, or any designated Citizen Service Centre.
2. Provide the required personal details and Aadhaar information for member registration.
3. Pay the prescribed registration fee of ₹10.
4. The service centre operator will complete the registration process on your behalf and submit the application.
5. After successful verification, eligible applicants will be enrolled as members of the Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha in their respective Gram Panchayat or Urban Ward.

Note: Applicants can become members of only one Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha and must satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed in the operational guidelines.
