Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, also known as Kapitu Thittam, provides eligible families with cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals. Beneficiaries can enrol online and, after successful verification, access their scheme details and generate the e-card. Latest Update on Tamil Nadu CMCHIS

The Tamil Nadu Government has announced an increase in the annual health insurance coverage under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh per family. The announcement represents a five-fold increase in the proposed annual coverage and is intended to provide greater financial protection to eligible families against the cost of major medical treatments.

However, the government has not yet issued an official implementation order specifying the effective date of the enhanced ₹25 lakh coverage. The official CMCHIS portal continues to display the existing ₹5 lakh annual coverage and its current beneficiary services. Therefore, beneficiaries should treat ₹25 lakh as an announced enhancement until the Government of Tamil Nadu issues the implementation order and revised scheme guidelines.

Online Application Process

Eligible beneficiaries can complete the Kalaignar Kapitu Thittam Card Apply Online process through the official CMCHIS portal by following the steps given below:

• Visit the official CMCHIS website and click on CMCHIS–PMJAY Apply Now under the Enrolment section.
• Select the appropriate enrolment category from the list.
• Enter your Family Ration Card Number or the ID Card/Letter Number issued by the concerned Government department and verify the details.
• If eligible, your beneficiary details will be displayed automatically.
• Complete the enrolment form by entering the required personal, family, and address details.
• Upload the required documents, such as the Aadhaar Card and the prescribed supporting document.
• Review the information and click on Save Enrolment to submit the application.
• After successful verification by the concerned authority, eligible applicants will be enrolled under the scheme and can avail cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals.

Offline Application Process

• Visit the nearest Government Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital, Medical College Hospital, or any authorised CMCHIS enrolment centre.

Beneficiaries can then complete the CM Kapitu Thittam Card Download process by downloading the generated e-card and keeping a printed copy for future use.

• Enter your Smart Ration Card Number, mobile number, or the URL number received after applying online or offline.
• Click on Search to view the available policy details and beneficiary names.
