Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Ganga Kalyana Scheme is a flagship irrigation assistance programme implemented by the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC) to improve irrigation facilities for eligible farmers belonging to notified minority communities in Karnataka. Under this scheme, the Government provides 100% financial assistance for the construction of borewells, installation of pump sets, and electrification of irrigation systems. The scheme enables small and marginal farmers to cultivate their agricultural land more efficiently and reduce their dependence on rainfall.

The scheme supports small and marginal farmers belonging to notified minority communities. It helps farmers develop irrigation facilities on their dry agricultural land. Eligible beneficiaries can receive financial assistance of up to ₹4 lakh for individual borewell projects in Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru districts. Farmers in all other districts of Karnataka can receive assistance of up to ₹3 lakh. The financial assistance covers the cost of borewell drilling, installation of pump sets, and electrification as per the approved scheme guidelines.

To avail the benefits of the scheme, applicants must belong to a notified minority community, be permanent residents of Karnataka, own eligible agricultural land, and be at least 18 years of age. The annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹6 lakh. Applicants must also satisfy the prescribed landholding and other eligibility conditions notified by KMDC.

KMDC invites applications through both online and offline modes whenever a notification is issued. After receiving the application, the authorities verify the submitted documents and conduct a field inspection of the applicant's agricultural land. Eligible beneficiaries are selected based on the prescribed criteria, technical feasibility, and availability of funds. The selected applicants are informed through their registered mobile numbers.

• The scheme provides 100% subsidised irrigation facilities to eligible minority farmers in Karnataka.

• For an individual borewell project, assistance of up to ₹4 lakh is available in Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru districts.
• For all other districts of Karnataka, financial assistance of up to ₹3 lakh is provided for an individual borewell project.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant should be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
• The applicant should be a small farmer, marginal farmer, or very small tenant farmer.
• The applicant should belong to a notified religious minority community, such as: -
  • Muslims.
  • Jains.
  • Christians.
  • Sikhs.
  • Parsis.
  • Buddhism.
• The applicant should own between 1 acre 20 guntas and 5 acres of dry agricultural land. However, in Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, and Hassan districts, the minimum land requirement is 1 acre.
• The annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹6 lakh.
• The applicant should be at least 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit for applying under the scheme.

• Minority Community Certificate (Caste/Minority Certificate) issued by the competent authority.
• Income Certificate issued by the competent authority.
• Aadhaar Card (Proof of Identity and Residence).
• Latest RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops) copy of the agricultural land.
• Small Farmer / Marginal Farmer / Very Small Tenant Farmer Certificate issued by the competent authority.
• Copy of the applicant's Bank Passbook.
• Latest Land Revenue Paid Receipt.
• Self-Declaration Form duly signed by the applicant.
• Self-Declaration Form from the Surety/Guarantor

Steps to Apply

Eligible applicants can apply for the Ganga Kalyana Scheme through both online and offline modes. The general application process for each mode is explained below.

Online Application Process

• Visit the Karnataka Online Application Management System (OAMS) portal.
• Log in using your registered mobile number and verify it through the OTP received on your phone.
• Complete the online application form by entering your personal and contact details.
• Upload the required documents in the prescribed format.
• Review all the information entered in the application form carefully.
• Submit the application online.
• The submitted application and documents will be forwarded to the concerned authority for scrutiny.
• Officials may conduct a field inspection of the applicant's agricultural land to verify eligibility.
• After verification, eligible beneficiaries will be selected under the scheme.
• The applicant will be informed about the selection or rejection of the application through SMS on the registered mobile number.

Offline Application Process

• Visit the District Office of the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC) or the designated office notified by the Government.
• Obtain the Ganga Kalyana Scheme application form free of cost.
• Fill in the application form with the required personal, land, and contact details.
• Attach self-attested copies of all the required documents.
• Submit the completed application form at the same office.
• The concerned officials will verify the application and supporting documents.
• A field inspection of the applicant's agricultural land may be carried out to assess eligibility.
• After successful verification, a list of selected beneficiaries will be prepared.
• Applicants will receive an SMS on their registered mobile number regarding the approval or rejection of their application.
