Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
- The Mukhyamantri Matru Vandana Yojana had emerged as an important election commitment of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi.
- During the election campaign, the party initially announced this initiative under the name "Mukhyamantri Matritva Suraksha Yojana."
- Later, the Delhi Government decided to roll out the scheme with a revised name, now known as "Mukhyamantri Matru Vandana Yojana".
- The scheme follows the broader framework of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana run by the Central Government.
- Under the central scheme, the government provides financial support of Rs. 5,000 for first-time pregnancy and Rs. 6,000 for the birth of a second girl child.
- However, the Delhi Government has designed Mukhyamantri Matru Vandana Yojana with enhanced benefits to offer stronger support to pregnant women and their newborns.
- The Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Delhi, will implement this scheme across the state.
- Under this initiative, the Delhi Government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 21,000 to all eligible pregnant women.
- The government will release this amount in installments through a phased payment structure, ensuring continued support during the pregnancy period.
- In addition to monetary assistance, the scheme also focuses on maternal and child nutrition.
- Eligible beneficiaries will receive six nutritional kits (Poshan Kits) to improve the health and nutritional status of both the mother and the newborn child.
- The government plans to distribute these Poshan Kits through local Anganwadi Centres, making access easier for beneficiaries.
- The Delhi Government also expects the registration and application process of Mukhyamantri Matru Vandana Yojana (MMMVY) to take place at Anganwadi Centres with the assistance of Anganwadi Workers, similar to existing maternal welfare schemes.
- This approach will help ensure smooth registration and accurate data entry for eligible women.
- According to available information, the Delhi Government aims to extend benefits under this scheme to around 1 lakh women beneficiaries.
- To support effective implementation, the government has already allocated Rs. 210 crore in the year 2025-26 budget for Mukhyamantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
- The Delhi Government plans to implement this scheme very soon across the entire state.
- Once the government officially launches Mukhyamantri Matru Vandana Yojana and releases detailed guidelines, we will update the latest information accordingly.

- After registration, the Women and Child Development Department of the Delhi Government will verify applications and prepare the final list of eligible beneficiaries.
- Women selected under this scheme will receive financial assistance of Rs. 21,000, which the government will release in multiple installments during the pregnancy period.
- Along with monetary support, the government will also provide six nutrition kits to help ensure proper maternal health and nutrition.
