Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
- Congress Party announced lots of welfare scheme at the time of assembly election of Himachal Pradesh.
- After forming government in State the current ruling party gradually fulfilling its promising by implementing schemes.
- One of the major announcement was "Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana".
- It was launched in the year 2023 for Women Beneficiaries of Lahaul and Spiti only.
- But in the 2024, Himachal Pradesh Government amended this scheme and changed the name to "Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana".
- The main aim behind starting this scheme is to make women self reliant financially.
- Women residents of Himachal Pradesh will now get per month monetary assistance of Rs. 1,500/- under this scheme for their daily expenses.
- All women whose age is between 18 years to 59 years are eligible to apply and avail the benefit of monthly assistance under Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana.
- Buddhist Nuns who permanent residing at Buddhist Monestary in Himachal Pradesh can also apply for financial assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per month.
- They need to submit a certificate/ letter from the Chief Chomo of the Buddhist Monestary.
- Recently, the government has extended the benefit of the scheme to the beneficiaries of the Kinnaur region.
- From April 1, 2026, the women of the Kinnaur district will also receive scheme benefits.
- Kinnaur women aged 21 and above are eligible for the scheme, if their annual family income is below 2 lakh.
- If any family member of the women beneficiary is comes under any of the below mentioned category they those women are eligible under Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Scheme :-

Eligibility Requirements
- Rs. 1,500/- per month under Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the following eligibility requirements :-
- Himachal Pradesh's Permanent Resident Women are Eligible to Apply.
- The Age of Women should be 18 years to 59 years.
- Buddhist Nuns from Monastery are also Eligible for Assistance.
- The minimum age limit for Kinnaur women is 21 years.
- Annual income criteria for Kinnaur women is 2 lakh.

- Himachal Pradesh Government makes the application process of Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana very easy.
- Beneficiary Women can Collect the Application Form of Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana without paying any cost from District Welfare Officer Office or from the Office of Tehsil Welfare Officer.
- Take Application Form from the above mentioned office, fill it and attach all the documents with it.
- Submit the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana Application Form and Documents in the same officer.
- Initial Verification will be done by District Welfare Officer or Tehsil Welfare Officer.
- Eligible Women Beneficiary List will be forward to department for further approval.
- Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per month under Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Scheme will be transferred directly in the bank account of women beneficiary.
