Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HPBOCWWB) operates several important welfare schemes for the benefit of registered construction workers and their families. One of these is the Himachal Pradesh Nirman Shramik Antim Sanskar Sahayata Yojana. Under this scheme, a one-time financial assistance of ₹20,000 (Twenty Thousand Rupees) is provided to the nominated dependent of a worker who was duly registered with the Board at the time of his or her death.

The sudden death of a worker can place an immediate financial burden on the family due to funeral-related expenses. During such a difficult time, the assistance provided by the Board offers financial support to the family and helps them manage the necessary funeral arrangements. It is worth noting that the Board’s 2017 brochure mentioned the assistance amount as ₹10,000, whereas the amount has now been increased to ₹20,000 on the Board’s official website.

The benefit of this scheme is available only to families whose deceased member was registered with the Board. For registration, a worker must be between 18 and 60 years of age and must have worked for at least 90 days in building or other construction activities during the preceding 12 months. Private construction work, government projects, and construction works undertaken by Panchayats are all considered under this eligibility condition. The registration fee is only ₹1, payable once.

A registered worker is required to deposit an advance contribution of ₹9 for three years. Thereafter, a renewal fee of ₹15 is payable for the next three years. In addition, Aadhaar verification of the beneficiary’s Aadhaar number through the portal has been made mandatory for availing the benefits of welfare schemes of the Himachal Pradesh Government.

The Board’s official portal provides an online application facility for various schemes through the “Apply For Benefits” option. Applicants who face difficulty with the online process can contact the Labour Welfare Officer’s office in their area for assistance. In addition to the Himachal Pradesh Nirman Shramik Antim Sanskar Sahayata Yojana, the state Government also provides up to ₹2 lakh in financial assistance to the dependents of registered construction workers in the event of the worker’s death under the Himachal Pradesh Nirman Shramik Mrityu Sahayata Yojana.

• The scheme provides financial assistance to the heir of a construction worker for funeral expenses.
• Financial assistance of ₹20,000 is payable to the heir.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the scheme, the applicant must fulfil the following eligibility conditions:

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Himachal Pradesh.
• The deceased construction worker must have been registered with the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
• In the event of the construction worker’s death, the application must be submitted by the worker’s heir.

Online Application Process

Applicants can follow the steps given below to apply online for the scheme:

• First, visit the official website of the Board.
• Click on the “Apply For Benefits” option.
• Enter the Beneficiary ID and Date of Birth.
• If you do not remember the Beneficiary ID, use the “Find Beneficiary ID” option available on the portal.
• Select the Himachal Pradesh Nirman Shramik Antim Sanskar Sahayata Yojana and enter all the required details correctly in the application form.
• Upload the required documents and submit the application form.

Offline Application Process

• For offline application, applicants can visit the nearest Labour and Employment Department office.
• At the office, you can obtain the offline application form for the scheme.
• Fill in all the required details correctly in the form.
• After completing the form, attach all the required documents.
• Submit the completed application form at the Labour and Employment Department office.
• After submission, the application will be reviewed by the concerned officials of the Labour and Employment Department.
• After verification, the selected beneficiaries will receive the financial assistance in the bank account provided in the application.

How to Check Application Status?

After submitting the application, applicants can check their application status by following these steps:

• First, visit the official website of the Board.
• On the homepage, click on the “Check Registration Status” option.
• Enter the Beneficiary ID and Date of Birth, and click on “Get Status”.
• Your application status will be displayed on the screen.
• The benefit will be provided to eligible beneficiaries after verification by the concerned officials.
• The financial assistance will be credited to the beneficiary’s bank account provided in the application.
