Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Many women become financially vulnerable after losing their husband, being deserted by their spouse, or being left without any reliable source of income. In such situations, meeting day-to-day expenses such as food, medicines, clothing, and other essential household needs becomes difficult. To provide social security and regular financial support to such women, the Government of Jharkhand is implementing the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Rajya Nirashrit Mahila Samman Pension Yojana under the Jharkhand Sarvajan Pension Yojana. The scheme aims to provide eligible destitute women with monthly financial assistance so that they can lead a dignified and financially secure life.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive a monthly pension of ₹1,000, which is directly transferred to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Women, Child Development & Social Security, Government of Jharkhand, and follows the common application, verification, approval, and pension payment procedures prescribed under the State's Social Security Pension Guidelines.

Women who fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions can apply for the scheme through the offline application process. After the application and supporting documents are verified by the concerned authorities and approved by the competent authority, the beneficiary's name is included in the pension list, and the monthly pension is credited directly to her bank account. In this article, we explain the scheme's eligibility criteria, benefits, required documents, application process, verification procedure, beneficiary selection process, and other important details in a simple and easy-to-understand manner.

The Government of Jharkhand also operates several other social security schemes for different sections of society. Eligible women may also explore the Mukhyamantri Maiyya Samman Yojana, which provides monthly financial assistance to eligible women, and the Rajya Vidhwa Punarvivah Protsahan Yojana, which encourages widow remarriage by providing financial support to eligible beneficiaries.
