Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Madhya Pradesh has launched the Yashoda Dugdh Praday Yojana in the Budget 2026–27 to tackle child malnutrition head-on and help children across the state grow healthy and strong. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced this scheme as one of the key highlights of the budget, with Finance Minister Jagdish Devda presenting the allocation in the State Assembly. Under this scheme, the government provides Tetra Pack Milk to children at Anganwadis and students up to Class 8 in Government and Government-aided schools — giving them the daily nutrition they need for strong bones, better immunity, and overall physical and mental development.

The scheme takes its name from Yashoda, the devoted foster mother of Lord Krishna, symbolising the government's commitment to nurturing every child in the state with care and warmth. The goal is clear, no child studying in a government school should go without proper nourishment, and this initiative aims to make that a reality.

For the financial year 2026–27, the scheme aims to reach approximately 80 lakh children across Madhya Pradesh. The government has set aside a total of Rs. 6,600 crore over five years, with Rs. 700 crore allocated in the current budget alone a clear sign of how seriously the state is taking child nutrition. The Tetra Pack Milk will be distributed alongside the Mid-Day Meal in schools and during regular Anganwadi sessions, so children receive it as part of their daily routine without any extra effort from parents or guardians.

This scheme is part of the broader vision of the Madhya Pradesh Government to build a stronger, healthier next generation and invest in the well-being of its youngest citizens.

• Students enrolled in Aganwadi and government schools will receive the benefits automatically, as the scheme is part of the mid-day meal scheme.
• Students are not required to furnish any documents to receive tetra pack milk.
