Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election, scheduled for February 5, 2025.
  • The manifesto, called as Sankalp Patra, comprises several welfare and beneficial schemes, especially women oriented.
  • Of these, the scheme that caught everyone's attention is "Mahila Samridhi Yojana".
  • This scheme is similar to BJP's 'Maharashtra Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' and the 'Madhya Pradesh Ladli Behna Yojana'.
  • Under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, the BJP has promised to provide financial assistance of Rs 2,500/- to every woman in Delhi.
  • The scheme's primary objective is to offer financial support to every woman in Delhi to cater their basic daily needs.
  • Interestingly, similar women centric schemes have also been announced by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the opposition Congress Party.
  • The AAP has promised to provide monthly support of Rs 2,100 through its Mahila Samman Yojana, while the Congress Party has pledged Rs 2,500/- monthly under its Pyari Didi Yojana.
  • Mahila Samridhi Yojana is likely to be known by other names such as "Mahila Samridhi Scheme" or "Delhi Women Assistance Scheme".
  • Monthly assistance of Rs 2,500/- will only be provided to women who meet the eligibility criteria shared under the scheme.
  • However, during the scheme announcement or in the manifesto BJP has not clarified about the eligibility criteria.
  • It is expected that, Females in the age group of 18 to 60 years are likely to receive Mahila Samridhi Yojana benefits.
  • However, widow and destitute women are likely to be excluded because the party has announced a separate scheme for them.
  • Each woman will receive the Mahila Samridhi Yojana Assistance every month directly through their bank accounts.
  • Currently, the Mahila Samridhi Yojana is a pre-election promise and will be implemented if the BJP forms the government.
  • It will be cleared on the election result date i.e. February 8, 2025, whether the scheme will be implemented or not.
  • BJP promised that they will implement the scheme in the first cabinet meeting after forming the government.
  • Once the scheme is implemented officially the party will share its details thereafter.
  • The BJP won many assembly election in the recent times through its women centric scheme, like Subhadra Yojana in Odisha, Lado Lakshmi Yojana in Haryana, Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana in Maharashtra, Ladli Behna Yojana in MP, Mahtari Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh.
