Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Even today, many couples in India continue to face social pressure and discrimination when they decide to marry outside their caste. While society is gradually changing, caste-based barriers still affect countless inter-caste couples, making it difficult for them to begin their married life with confidence and acceptance. Recognizing this challenge, the Government of Haryana has introduced the Mukhya Mantri Samajik Samrasta Anterjatiya Vivah Shagun Yojana to encourage inter-caste marriages and strengthen social harmony across the state. Through this scheme, the government not only promotes equality among communities but also provides financial support to eligible newly married couples so that they can start their new life with greater financial security.

Under this scheme, the Haryana Government provides financial assistance of ₹2,50,000 to eligible couples where one spouse belongs to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community and the other belongs to a non-Scheduled Caste category. The assistance is transferred to the joint bank account of the husband and wife, where it remains under a three-year lock-in period as prescribed under the scheme guidelines. The scheme is implemented by the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department, Government of Haryana, which is responsible for receiving and processing applications submitted by eligible beneficiaries.

To ensure that the benefits reach genuine beneficiaries, the Government has prescribed specific eligibility conditions. The Scheduled Caste member of the couple must be a domicile of Haryana, the marriage should be the first marriage for both spouses, the bride must be at least 18 years old, the groom must be at least 21 years old, and the application must be submitted within three years from the date of marriage. Couples are also required to submit prescribed documents such as the marriage registration certificate, Scheduled Caste certificate, Haryana domicile proof of the SC spouse, Aadhaar cards, Parivar Pehchan Patra, joint bank account details, PAN card, and an affidavit declaring it to be the first marriage.

The application process has been made convenient through the Antyodaya SARAL Haryana Portal, allowing eligible applicants to submit their application online without visiting multiple government offices. Once the application is successfully submitted along with the required documents, the concerned department verifies the details before approving the financial assistance as per the scheme rules.
