Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Vikas Yojana is an important scheme of the Jharkhand Government aimed at increasing the income of rural farmers and livestock owners and creating employment opportunities through animal husbandry. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries can receive government assistance for various livestock activities, including cattle, buffalo, goat, pig, poultry, and duck farming. The benefits are provided in different districts based on the government notifications issued from time to time.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive government subsidies to purchase animals and start dairy or other livestock units. Depending on the scheme component, government assistance generally ranges from 50% to 90%. The actual subsidy rate is determined based on the beneficiary category, scheme component, and provisions applicable for the respective financial year. Beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and certain special categories may receive higher subsidies under some components.
The Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Vikas Yojana may also assist essential facilities related to livestock farming, along with the distribution of dairy animals and support for dairy farming. These facilities may include chaff cutters, milking machines, paneer and khoya-making units, vermicompost units, water facilities, and other livestock equipment. Some dairy components also provide for the construction of animal sheds in coordination with VB G RAM G (MGNREGA).
Eligible beneficiaries are selected according to the prescribed process in the respective district. Under several components, beneficiaries are recommended at the Gram Sabha or Panchayat level before selection at the block and district levels. For dairy animal-related schemes, selected beneficiaries may have to complete the prescribed training, while the purchase of animals is carried out according to the procedure decided by the government. The approved subsidy may be transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account through DBT, as per the applicable rules.
Eligibility criteria, subsidy rates, available scheme components, required documents, and application deadlines may vary depending on the district and the government notification for the respective financial year. Therefore, applicants should check the latest official notification issued for their district before applying.
