Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Madhya Pradesh Government runs the Mukhyamantri Scooty Yojana to encourage meritorious students of Government Higher Secondary Schools to pursue higher education. Under this scheme, eligible students who secure at least 70% marks in the MP Board Class 12 examination and become toppers of their respective schools receive financial assistance for purchasing a scooty. The scheme is available for both eligible girl and boy students studying in Government Higher Secondary Schools operated by the School Education Department and Tribal Affairs Department. By rewarding academic excellence, the Government aims to motivate students to perform better in board examinations and continue their education without transportation-related difficulties.

The State Government has extended the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Scooty Yojana up to 2031 and approved a budget of ₹495 crore for its continued implementation. The scheme continues to benefit thousands of meritorious students every year, with more than 7,500 eligible students scheduled to receive e-scooters for the 2025-26 academic session on 19 September 2026. Instead of distributing scooters directly in all cases, the Government provides financial assistance to eligible students for purchasing a two-wheeler. Students opting for an ICES/motorcycle can receive financial assistance of up to ₹90,000, while those choosing an electric scooty can receive assistance of up to ₹1.20 lakh.

Earlier, the scheme was introduced only for girl students as the Mukhyamantri Balika Scooty Yojana. It has now been expanded to cover both boys and girls studying in eligible Government Higher Secondary Schools. Along with this scheme, the Madhya Pradesh Government also rewards meritorious students through the Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana and supports school-going students under the Free Cycle Distribution Scheme. Together, these initiatives aim to improve access to education and recognise outstanding academic performance.

There is no separate public application portal for the MP Free Scooty Scheme. Eligible students are identified through their respective schools after the declaration of the Class 12 Board examination results. The schools prepare and verify the list of eligible toppers, collect the required details from students, and forward the information to the concerned education authorities for approval. After verification, financial assistance is provided to eligible beneficiaries as per the prescribed procedure for purchasing the selected scooty.

Latest Update

The Madhya Pradesh Government is scheduled to distribute e-scooters to more than 7,500 eligible meritorious students on 19 September 2026 for the 2025-26 academic session. The latest distribution will benefit students selected under the Mukhyamantri Scooty Yojana based on the prescribed merit criteria.

According to the latest update, the distribution will further increase the number of students who have received the scheme benefit. So far, more than 23,000 students have benefited from the scheme.

Eligibility Requirements

• The student must be studying in a Government Higher Secondary School run by the School Education Department or Tribal Affairs Department.

• The student must secure at least 70% marks in the Class 12 Board Examination. (Earlier, the minimum qualifying marks were 60%.)
