Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
- The Krishi Input Anudan Yojana was introduced by the Bihar Government in 2016 to support farmers affected by crop losses.
- The primary purpose of this scheme is to provide financial relief to farmers when their crops are damaged due to unavoidable natural events such as floods or storms.
- The scheme is implemented by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Bihar, which oversees the entire process from application to payment.
- Under the Krishi Input Anudan Yojana, monetary assistance is provided to farmers whose crops have been damaged due to heavy rainfall or monsoon-related storms.
- Both Raiyyat and Non-Raiyyat farmers of Bihar are eligible to seek compensation if their crop loss is 33 percent or more.
- The Bihar Government has fixed specific compensation rates under this scheme based on the type of agricultural land, which are calculated per hectare as follows :-
- Rs. 8,500 per hectare for non-irrigated agricultural land.
- Rs. 17,000 per hectare for irrigated agricultural land.
- Rs. 22,500 per hectare for perennial crops such as sugarcane.
- The compensation amount under this scheme is payable for a maximum of two hectares of agricultural land per farmer.
- In addition, the state government has also defined a minimum compensation amount to ensure that farmers receive at least a basic level of support.
- To apply under this scheme, it is compulsory for the farmer to possess a 13-digit Farmer Registration Number, which can be obtained by registering on the Agriculture DBT Portal.
- Farmers whose bank accounts are not linked with Aadhaar are not eligible to receive the compensation amount under the Krishi Input Anudan Yojana.
- The online application form for the Krishi Input Anudan Scheme is made available on the Agriculture DBT Portal.
- The Bihar Government invites online applications every month for crop losses suffered during the previous month.
- For example, farmers whose crops were damaged in the month of October due to heavy rainfall or monsoon storms can submit their applications up to 05 December 2025.
- The application process for this period begins on 25 November 2025 and closes on 05 December 2025.
