CM Inspire Scheme Meghalaya

Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Meghalaya Government has officially launched the CM-INSPIRE Scheme (Chief Minister's Incentive Scheme for Promotion of Intellectual Readiness & Empowerment) for UPSC Civil Services Examination aspirants in the state. The scheme is implemented through the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute-All India Services Pre-Examination Training Centre (MATI-AISPETC) under the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department.

The main objective of the scheme is to motivate and financially support deserving candidates from Meghalaya who are preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. The government introduced this initiative after observing the low representation of Meghalaya candidates in All India Services over the last several years. Through this scheme, the government aims to encourage more youth from the state to pursue careers in civil services.

Under the CM-INSPIRE Scheme, candidates who successfully clear the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination will receive a financial incentive of Rs 50,000. Candidates who clear the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination will receive Rs 1,00,000 as financial assistance. The scheme mainly benefits aspirants belonging to ST, SC, OST, and EWS categories and helps them manage expenses related to coaching, study materials, accommodation, travel, and examination preparation.

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official MATI website by submitting the prescribed application form along with supporting documents such as a residential certificate, category certificate, UPSC admit card, proof of qualifying the examination stage, bank details, photographs, and undertaking forms. After successful verification of documents by MATI, the approved incentive amount will be transferred directly to the applicant's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The Meghalaya Government has developed this scheme by taking inspiration from similar incentive programs implemented in states like Tamil Nadu and Manipur, where financial support for UPSC aspirants has helped improve participation and success rates in civil service examinations.
