Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
The Rajasthan Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana provides one-time financial assistance to farmers, agricultural labourers, and eligible agricultural market workers. It supports people who suffer accidental injuries or death during agricultural or agricultural marketing activities. The scheme offers assistance ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹2,00,000, depending on the nature and severity of the accident. In accidental death cases, the financial assistance is paid to the eligible dependant of the deceased, while in injury cases, the assistance goes to the affected person.
The Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana covers eligible accidents during agricultural work, including activities in fields, agricultural produce market yards, sub-yards, and notified purchase centres. It also covers specified journeys between home and the field for agricultural work and travel to or from a mandi while carrying agricultural produce. Only eligible beneficiaries can receive Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana benefits. Beneficiaries include landowning farmers, agricultural labourers, and licensed hammals, palledars and other covered mandi workers, who are also served by the Rajasthan Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandi Shramik Kalyan Yojana run by the same department.
The scheme provides financial assistance without requiring beneficiaries to pay any premium or make a contribution. If a single accident causes multiple eligible injuries, the beneficiary can submit a claim for those injuries together, subject to the applicable scheme rules. The assistance is paid from the concerned Mandi Samiti fund through an account-payee cheque or demand draft.
The scheme is not new, only newly named. It began in 1994 as Krishak Sathi Yojana. It was renamed Kisan Jeevan Kalyan Yojana in 2004, and then Rajiv Gandhi Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana in 2009. The present state government has renamed it Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana. The assistance amounts and the rules have carried over largely unchanged, so farmers who knew the older scheme will find the same protections under the new name.
Eligible applicants can apply for the Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana through the official Raj Kisan Portal or through an e-Mitra service centre. Applicants must provide the accident details, victim information, bank account details, witness information, and supporting documents required for their claim. The scheme's application instructions state that the required documents depend on the accident type and victim category, and the payment process provides a 15-day timeline after the application and all required documents are complete.
