Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • The Government of Tripura introduced a major social assistance initiative for Antyodaya families known as the Mukhyamantri Konya Bibaha Yojana (MKBY).
  • This scheme is designed to provide financial help for the marriage of daughters belonging to economically weaker Antyodaya households, ensuring that financial hardship does not become a burden during marriage.
  • The programme is implemented by the Social Welfare & Social Education Department of the Government of Tripura.
  • Under this scheme, eligible brides from Antyodaya and economically weaker families receive financial support from the state government for marriage expenses.
  • Each selected beneficiary will receive a grant of Rs. 50,000 as one-time marriage assistance.
  • Girls from Antyodaya families who are 18 years of age or older at the time of marriage qualify for this support under the Tripura Government's Mukhyamantri Konya Bibaha Yojana.
  • The benefit is limited to two daughters per family and is provided only once.
  • For the financial year 2025-2026, the Tripura Government has earmarked Rs. 10 crore for the effective execution of the scheme, with an estimated 2,000 families expected to receive Rs. 50,000 each annually.
  • At present, there is no online application facility or dedicated official website for this scheme.
  • Interested beneficiaries must obtain and submit the offline application form available at the office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) to claim the assistance.
  • For any clarification or help regarding the scheme, applicants may approach the concerned CDPO office.
