Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• The E-Rickshaw and Moped Distribution Scheme was specifically started for Linguistic Minorities, which stands among the key welfare initiatives introduced by the Assam Government to support people across the state.
• Through this scheme, the government aims to help unemployed individuals from linguistic minority communities create sustainable livelihoods by encouraging self-employment.
• The Linguistic Minorities Development Board, Assam, implements and monitors the scheme at the state level.
• Under this initiative, the Assam Government offers applicants a free E-Rickshaw or Moped, allowing them to choose the vehicle based on their requirements and suitability.

Scheme Benefits

• The government will provide an E-Rickshaw or a Moped completely free of cost to all selected beneficiaries.

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must belong to a linguistic minority community and should already know how to drive an E-Rickshaw or a Moped.
• The applicant's age must fall between 25 and 50 years at the time of applying.
• Individuals belonging to religious minority groups, including Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Sikh, Jain, or Parsi communities, do not qualify for this scheme.
• The applicant's total annual family income must not exceed Rs. 3 lakh.
• Beneficiaries must commercially use the allotted E-Rickshaw or Moped. They cannot give it on rent or lease under any circumstances.
• After allotment, beneficiaries must not sell or transfer the E-Rickshaw or Moped for a minimum period of three years.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible individuals can submit an online application to get an E-Rickshaw or a Moped free of cost under a scheme run by the Linguistic Minorities Development Board of the Assam Government.
• The state government has activated the online application link for the E-Rickshaw and Moped Distribution Scheme on the official portal of the Linguistic Minorities Development Board, Assam.
• Applicants do not need to pay any registration or application charges while applying online.
• Before starting the application process, candidates must open the portal and carefully go through all instructions and eligibility conditions mentioned on the website.
• Only applicants belonging to a linguistic minority community can apply under this scheme.
• People belonging to religious minority categories do not qualify for this benefit.

• Online Application Process Includes these 5 Stages :-

  • Personal Details :- Enter basic personal information.
  • Educational Details :- Provide qualification-related information.
  • Additional Details :- Fill in other required information.
  • Document Upload :- Upload all mandatory documents.
• After completing all sections, applicants must verify their mobile number using OTP and then submit the application form.
• After submission, the concerned department officials will examine and verify all received applications.
• The government will prepare the beneficiary list based on the district-wise population of linguistic minorities.
• Authorities will finalize beneficiary selection through a lucky draw process.
• Selected beneficiaries will receive their E-Rickshaw or Moped completely free during a public distribution program organised by the board.
• The online application window is currently open, and interested applicants must complete the process on or before 30 December 2025.
