Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Bihar MAITRI Scheme is an employment-oriented initiative launched by the Animal & Fisheries Resources Department, Government of Bihar, under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission. The objective of the scheme is to improve Artificial Insemination services across the state and promote the breed improvement of indigenous cattle. The scheme also creates self-employment opportunities for educated unemployed youth. Under the latest recruitment drive, the government plans to establish 3,824 MAITRI Centres across Bihar to provide doorstep breeding services to livestock owners.

MAITRI stands for Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technician in Rural India. Selected candidates receive free training in Artificial Insemination, Animal Health, and Animal Husbandry. After successfully completing the training, they are deployed in their allotted service areas. The department also provides the necessary equipment and materials required for Artificial Insemination services. This enables trained candidates to begin providing services without arranging the essential equipment on their own.

The Bihar MAITRI Scheme is not a regular government job. It is a self-employment programme. MAITRI workers provide Artificial Insemination services to livestock owners in their assigned areas. They earn an income by collecting the prescribed service charges from livestock owners. As per the official guidelines, candidates are also provided with Artificial Insemination equipment worth approximately ₹50,000 after completing the training. However, they are required to deposit a refundable security amount of ₹10,000 before the training begins. Farmers benefit by receiving timely breeding services at their doorstep, which improves livestock productivity and reduces the need to travel long distances.

To apply for Bihar MAITRI Recruitment 2026, applicants must be permanent residents of Bihar. They must have passed Class 12 (Intermediate) with Science and should be at least 18 years of age. Basic computer knowledge is also required. Candidates having training or experience in Artificial Insemination, Animal Husbandry, or other government-recognised livestock training programmes are given preference during the selection process. Applications are accepted only online. The application window is open from 01 July 2026 to 10 July 2026. Applicants are also required to pay an application fee of ₹500 for the General category and ₹100 for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Bihar.
• The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
• The applicant must have passed Class 12 (Intermediate) with Science from a recognised board.
• The applicant should have basic knowledge of computers.
• Candidates having training or experience in Artificial Insemination, Animal Husbandry, or related fields will be given preference.
• Candidates trained under government-recognised livestock training programmes, including RPL and NLHM, will also be given preference

• Training Certificate under Government Animal Husbandry Schemes, RPL, NLHM, NRLM, or other recognised programmes (if applicable).
• Passport-size Photograph.
• Scanned Signature.
• Active Mobile Number.
• Active Email ID.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay the prescribed application fee while submitting the online application form. The category-wise application fee is given below.

• General Category: ₹500
• Scheduled Caste (SC): ₹100
• Scheduled Tribe (ST): ₹100

The application fee must be paid through the online payment facility available on the application portal. Applications submitted without the prescribed fee will not be considered.

Security Deposit

Selected candidates are required to deposit a refundable security amount before the commencement of the training programme.

• Security Deposit: ₹10,000
• The security amount is collected before the training begins.
• Only selected candidates are required to pay this amount.
• The security deposit is separate from the application fee.

Steps to Apply

Applications for the MAITRI Recruitment will be accepted only online. Eligible candidates must submit their applications between 01 July 2026 and 10 July 2026 through the official website of the Animal & Fisheries Resources Department, Bihar. Applicants should complete the registration, fill in the application form, upload the required documents, pay the prescribed application fee, and submit the application before the last date

• To proceed, you must first register on the portal.
• Click on the Registration tab on the home page.
• Register using your Aadhaar Number or Voter ID Number and create a password by entering your mobile number.
• Verify your registration by entering the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
• Log in using your registered credentials.
• Fill in the application form with your personal details, educational qualifications, address, and other required information.
• Upload the required documents, recent passport-size photograph, and signature in the prescribed format.
• If applicable, upload your Artificial Insemination, Vaccination, or other relevant training and experience certificates.
• Preview the application form and verify all the details before submission.
• Pay the prescribed application fee through the available online payment mode.
• Submit the application form and download or print the acknowledgement receipt for future reference.
