Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Telangana Sewing Machine Scheme is a women's empowerment initiative launched by the Telangana Government through the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation (TGMFC) under the Indiramma Mahila Shakti programme. The scheme aims to help eligible minority women become financially independent by providing them with a free domestic sewing machine. By supporting self-employment through tailoring, the government seeks to improve household income and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women who have the necessary stitching skills but lack the financial resources to purchase a sewing machine.

Under this initiative, one free sewing machine is provided to each eligible beneficiary without charging any cost. The scheme is exclusively meant for unemployed women belonging to notified minority communities of Telangana, including Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis. Preference is given to women who are economically weaker and require livelihood support, such as widows, divorced women, destitute women, orphaned women, single women, and other needy applicants. Women who have completed tailoring training from a government-recognised institute or a TGMFC training partner are given preference during the selection process.

Separately, the Telangana Government has launched the Intintiki Indiramma Kuttu Machine Scheme for eligible BC women. Under this new initiative, automatic sewing machines worth ₹12,000 are provided with 100% subsidy. The scheme aims to cover around 1.19 lakh BC women across 119 Assembly constituencies and promote self-employment through tailoring.

To receive the benefit, applicants must be permanent residents of Telangana, belong to an eligible minority community, be between 18 and 55 years of age, have passed at least Class 5, and possess tailoring skills. The annual family income should not exceed ₹1.50 lakh in rural areas or ₹2 lakh in urban areas. Applicants must also submit a self-declaration confirming that they have not received any financial assistance or similar benefit from the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation during the previous five years. Only one sewing machine is provided to one eligible woman from a household.

Eligible women can submit their applications online through the Telangana Online Beneficiary Management and Monitoring System (OBMMS) portal by uploading the required details and documents. After online registration, the submitted applications are verified by the concerned authorities before free sewing machines are distributed to selected beneficiaries. Since the scheme is implemented separately for different notified minority communities, the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation invites applications for each community at different intervals through separate notifications.

Women belonging to the respective minority community can apply only when the application window for their community is officially opened. Therefore, applicants should regularly visit the official TGMFC and OBMMS portals to check the latest notifications, application schedule, and registration dates under the Telangana Sewing Machine Scheme.
