Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Corporate Mitra Scheme is a flagship initiative announced by the Government of India in the Union Budget 2026-27 to create a skilled workforce for India's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Launched by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), the scheme aims to train young graduates as Corporate Mitras who can assist MSMEs with GST, accounting, regulatory compliance, financial management, cost accounting, secretarial services, and other business-related functions. By making professional support more affordable and accessible, the scheme seeks to improve the ease of doing business while creating new employment opportunities for youth.

Under the Corporate Mitra Scheme, selected candidates will undergo a 12-month training programme, comprising six months of online academic learning (around 150 hours) and six months of on-the-job training with professional firms recognized by ICAI, ICSI, and ICoAI. After successfully completing the academic course, assessments, and practical training, candidates will receive an official Corporate Mitra Certificate, allowing them to work as trained MSME compliance facilitators across the country.

Unlike many internship or skill development programmes, the Corporate Mitra Scheme is a standalone initiative of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. It operates independently of existing Central and State Government internship or skill development schemes, focusing specifically on creating trained professionals who can provide support to MSMEs.

Graduates and final-year graduation students who are 30 years of age or below are eligible to apply once registrations open. The course fee is ₹3,000 plus GST, while eligible women candidates and applicants from the North Eastern Region, Himalayan Region, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep are entitled to a 50% fee concession. Candidates will also receive a minimum stipend during the on-the-job training period as per the applicable norms of ICAI, ICSI, or ICoAI.

The scheme will initially enrol 2,000 candidates, including 200 candidates from the North Eastern Region, on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will be accepted online through the SWAYAM Plus Portal. Although the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has released the official guidelines, the registration schedule is yet to be announced. Candidates interested in skill development and industry training can also explore other Central Government initiatives such as the PM Internship Scheme and the Digital India Internship Scheme, which provide practical work experience and career opportunities for students and young professionals.
