Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
- Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta has introduced a new flagship initiative for girls titled Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana.
- The Delhi Government rolled out the scheme across the state from 01-04-2026.
- However, Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana was officially launched by the Government on 2nd March 2026 in the presence of President Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
- The government has designed this scheme to strengthen the long-term financial security of girl children and to motivate families to consistently support their daughters' education, from birth through higher studies.
- The Women and Child Development Department, Government of Delhi, will execute and supervise the scheme.
- The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana replaces the earlier Ladli Yojana, which has been in operation since 2008.
- Under the revised framework, the government has enhanced the investment model and increased the maturity value for beneficiaries.
- For each eligible girl, the government will invest the prescribed amount in different stages, which is more than the previous scheme.
- The government of Delhi will release this amount in planned stages aligned with key educational milestones so that families receive support exactly when required.
- After the investment matures, the beneficiary will receive approximately Rs. 1,25,000/- up to her graduation under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, which she can use for higher education or professional advancement.
- To ensure safe growth of funds and proper financial management, the government will place the stage-wise investment with SBI Life Insurance.
The Stage-Wise Financial Assistance Structure of the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana of the Delhi Government is mentioned below:-
At Birth- The government will deposit Rs. 11,000 in the name of the newborn girl child.
- Primary and Middle School Level deposit will be :-
- Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 1.
- Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 6.
- Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 9.
- Secondary and Senior Secondary Level deposit will be :-
- Rs. 5,000/- on admission in Class 11th.
- Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 12.
Higher Education Support- Rs. 10,000/- on admission to a professional diploma course of 1 year.
- Rs 20,000/- on a 2 year professional diploma course.
- Rs. 20,000/- on admision to three year professional diploma.
- Rs. 20,000/- on admision to three year graduation programme.
- Rs. 25,000/- on admission in 4 year graduation programme.
- Only girls who meet all eligibility conditions will receive the final maturity benefit up to Rs. 1.25 lakh.
- The benefit of the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana is restricted to two girls in a family.
- If the applicant's family income crosses Rs. 1,20,000/- per year, the authorities will not permit enrolment under the scheme.
- The benefits provided under the school milestone can be withdrawn after passing class 12 and upon completing the age of 18.
- Whereas, diploma and graduation benefits can be withdrawn after completing the course and attaining the age of 21.
- Detailed guidelines about the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana have been released by the government, sharing all key details.
- Eligible parents on behalf of their child can submit the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana application online through its dedicated portal.
- Applicants must submit their application within 1 year of birth or 90 days of admission at each stage.
Scheme Benefits
- The government will invest a prescribed amount in the name of the girl beneficiary.
- The assistance amount will be deposited in different phases, from her birth until she completes graduation.
- After the investment reaches maturity, the beneficiary girl will receive a payout of around Rs. 1,25,000/-.

Eligibility Requirements
- A girl must be born in Delhi, and his family must be living here for at least three years.
- She must have been born within the territory of Delhi.
- Only two girl children from a single family can claim benefits under the scheme.
- The total annual income of the applicant's family must not exceed Rs. 1,20,000.
- The applicant must have completed all the mandatory immunisations as prescribed by the health authorities.
- The girl must pursue a diploma or graduation from a recognised university/college or institution.
- Girls currently studying in a Govt./MCD/ NDMAC recognised school are also eligible.
- Existing beneficiaries of the Delhi Ladli scheme are also eligible for further higher education milestones if they remain unmarried till 18 years.
Eligibility Requirements for Maturity Amount
- School-level benefits can be withdrawn only after passing Class 12 and completing the age of 18 years.
- Diploma and graduation benefits can be withdrawn after completing the course and attaining the age of 21 years.
- School and higher education benefits will be available only to those girls who remain unmarried.

- Immunization Certification (Vaccination record)
- Girls studying in Delhi private schools need to submit a certificate obtained from the school principal, which is duly countersigned by the District Education Officer.
Steps to Apply
- Eligible applicants can submit the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana Application online through the official portal, i.e. delhilakhpatibitiyawcd.sbilife.co.in.
- For this, the Delhi government, in collaboration with SBI Life, developed a new portal called 'SBI Life Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme".

- Parents need to first complete their registration by clicking on the "Sign Up for Parents/Guardians" tab.

- However, existing beneficiaries of Delhi Ladli Scheme are not required to register separately.
- After registration, log in using your mobile number.

- Once you are logged in, the scheme dashboard will open.

- Now, click on "New Registration" and follow the process.
- During the process, you will need to verify your Aadhaar number.
- Upon successful Aadhaar authentication, the Lakhpati Bitiya scheme application form will appear on the screen.
- Share your details and upload the required documents (as shared above).
- After providing all the details, submit the application form.
- The application submission details will be shared via SMS on your registered mobile number.
- Applicants need to renew their application at each stage to continue receiving scheme benefits.
