Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta has introduced a new flagship initiative for girls titled Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana.
• The Delhi Government will roll out the scheme across the state from 01-04-2026.
• However, Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana was officially launched by the Government on 2nd of March 2026 in the presence of President Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
• The government has designed this scheme to strengthen the long-term financial security of girl children and to motivate families to consistently support their daughters' education, from birth through higher studies.
• The Women and Child Development Department, Government of Delhi, will execute and supervise the scheme.
• The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana replaces the earlier Ladli Yojana, which has been in operation since 2008.
• Under the revised framework, the government has enhanced the investment model and increased the maturity value for beneficiaries.
• For each eligible girl, the government will invest a total of Rs. 56,000/- which is Rs. 20,000/- more than the previous structure.
• Government of Delhi will release this amount in carefully planned stages aligned with key educational milestones so that families receive support exactly when required.
• After the investment matures, the beneficiary will receive more than Rs. 1,00,000/- under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, which she can use for higher education or professional advancement.
• To ensure safe growth of funds and proper financial management, the government will place the stage-wise investment with SBI Life Insurance.

• The Stage-Wise Financial Assistance Structure of the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana of the Delhi Government is mentioned below :-

  At Birth

  The government will deposit Rs. 11,000 in the name of the newborn girl child. Primary and Middle School Level deposit will be :- Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 1. Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 6. Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 9. Secondary and Senior Secondary Level deposit will be :- Rs. 5,000/- after passing the Class 10 board examination. Rs. 5,000/- on admission to Class 12.

  Higher Education Support

  Rs. 5,000/- on admission to a professional diploma course. Rs. 5,000/- during the first year of graduation. Rs. 5,000/- during the second year of graduation. Rs. 10,000/- during the third year of graduation.

• Only girls who meet all eligibility conditions will receive the final maturity benefit exceeding Rs. 1 lakh.
• If the applicant's family income crosses Rs. 1,20,000/- per year, the authorities will not permit enrolment under the scheme.
• The government has already issued the core eligibility norms and broad operational guidelines.
• However, it has yet to publish the detailed application procedure.
• Based on the earlier Ladli Yojana model, authorities are expected to accept applications through both online and offline channels.
• Applicants will likely submit online forms through the Delhi Government's e-District Portal.
• For offline submission, they may obtain the prescribed form from the District Offices of the Women and Child Development Department or from the nearest Anganwadi Centre and submit it after completing the required details.
• Applicants should wait for the formal notification at the time of the official launch for final registration instructions.
• Once the government releases the complete application framework, we will provide a clear and updated process accordingly.

Scheme Benefits

• The government will invest a total sum of Rs. 56,000 in the name of the girl beneficiary under the scheme.
• It will deposit the assistance amount in different phases, starting from her birth and continuing until she completes her higher education.
• After the investment reaches maturity, the beneficiary girl will receive a payout exceeding Rs. 1,00,000/-.

Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana Installment Stages

• Under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, the Delhi Government will deposit financial assistance for eligible girls with SBI Life at different milestones as outlined below :-
  • Rs. 11,000/- At the birth of the girl child.
  • Rs. 5,000/- On admission to Class 1.
  • Rs. 5,000/- On admission to Class 6.
  • Rs. 5,000/- On admission to Class 9.
  • Rs. 5,000/- After passing the Class 10 examination.
  • Rs. 5,000/- On admission to Class 12.
  • Rs. 5,000/- On admission to a professional diploma course.
  • Rs. 5,000/- During the first year of graduation.
  • Rs. 5,000/- During the second year of graduation.
  • Rs. 10,000/-During the third year of graduation.

Eligibility Requirements

• The beneficiary girl must either be a permanent resident of Delhi or should have continuously lived in Delhi for at least three years.
• She must have been born within the territory of Delhi.
• Only two girl children from a single family can claim benefits under the scheme.
• The total annual income of the applicant's family must not exceed Rs. 1,20,000.
• The applicant must have completed all the mandatory immunisations as prescribed by the health authorities.

Eligibility Requirements for Maturity Amount

• A girl should attain the Age of 18 years and be unmarried.
• The girl beneficiary must have either passed Class 12, Polytechnic, or ITI and completed 18 years of age, OR she must have completed Graduation or a Diploma course and attained 21 years of age.

Steps to Apply

• Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta has officially stated that the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana will come into effect from 1 April 2026 in the state.
• The government has released the basic eligibility conditions and broad guidelines; however, it has not yet issued detailed instructions regarding the application process.
• Looking at the framework of the Ladli Yojana, the authorities are expected to provide both online and offline options for submitting applications under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana.
• The government will likely enable online registration through the Delhi Government's e-District Portal, which it already uses to deliver multiple public services and welfare scheme benefits.
• For offline mode, eligible applicants may obtain the prescribed form from the District Offices of the Women and Child Development Department or from their nearest Anganwadi Centre, complete it with the required information, and submit it at the same office.
• At present, beneficiaries must wait until the scheme is formally launched.
