Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
The Pension Scheme under Rule 39 of the Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is designed to provide financial security to registered construction workers in their old age. It ensures a steady monthly income for workers who have actively contributed to the construction sector and remained registered beneficiaries of the Board for a minimum period.
Under this scheme, eligible workers who have attained the age of 60 years and maintained continuous registration for at least 3 years prior to reaching 60 are entitled to receive a monthly pension of up to Rs 3,000. The scheme is implemented through the Seva Sindhu portal, ensuring a transparent application, verification, and sanction process.
Upon approval, the beneficiary is issued a Pension Sanction Order along with a Pension Identity Card containing a unique Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, and the pension amount is directly credited to the beneficiary's bank account. To ensure continuity, the beneficiary must submit an annual Living Certificate, while provisions are also made for family pension to support the spouse after the pensioner's death.
If the application is found ineligible, it may be rejected after giving the applicant an opportunity to be heard. The beneficiary must submit a Living Certificate (Form XII-A) every year to continue receiving the pension.
In case of the pensioner's death, legal heirs must inform the Board with a death certificate to close the account. The beneficiary cannot receive similar benefits from other government schemes.
Additionally, under Family Pension provisions, the spouse of a deceased pensioner is eligible to receive up to 50% of the pension amount, subject to eligibility and verification.
