Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
- Karnataka Shakti Scheme is the flagship scheme of Karnataka Government, which was launched in the year 2023.
- The main objective behind launching Shakti Scheme is to empower women financially by providing them free of cost bus service.
- Under the Karnataka Shakti Scheme, Free of Cost Bus Ride across Karnataka will be provided to all women beneficiaries of Karnataka State.
- Free of Cost Bus Service under Shakti Scheme will only provide in the below mentioned transport corporation buses :-
- Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation. (KSRTC)
- Bangalore Maha Nagar Transport Corporation. (BMNTC)
- North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation. (NWKRTC)
- Kalyan Karnataka Road Transport Corporation. (KKRTC)
- Free Travel from one place to another place is only applicable within the boundary of Karnataka State.
- Women Beneficiary can avail the free of cost ride under Shakti Scheme only in Ordinary, Urban Transport, Express and Regular Transport Buses.
- Free of Cost Bus Service will not be provided to women beneficiaries in AC, AC Sleeper, Non AC Sleeper, or any luxury bus.
- Women Beneficiaries can travel anywhere from one place to another, there is no cap on kilometres.
- Smart Card is mandatorily needed to avail the benefit of free of cost bus ride under Shakti Scheme.
- Women Beneficiaries can apply for Smart Card under Shakti Scheme for free bus ride by filling Online Application Form.
- Online Application Form for Smart Card under Shakti Scheme will be available on Karnataka Seva Sindhu Portal.
- Until women receive their Smart Card, they can show any below-mentioned photographed identity card in the bus to avail free of cost bus ride :-
- Aadhaar Card.
- Driving License.
- Voter Identity Card.
- Or Any Other Photographed Identity Card.
- Zero Sum Tickets will be provided to women beneficiaries at the time of travelling.
- It is to be estimated that around more than 41 lakh women will get benefit under Karnataka Shakti Scheme.
- Women beneficiaries can travel free of cost in 6,308 City Buses, 5,958 Ordinary Buses, and 6,343 Express Buses.
- Application for Obtaining Smart Card under Shakti Scheme will be open from June 15th 2023.
- Smart Cards under Shakti Scheme will be obtained by applying Online on Seva Sindhu Portal.

- After more than 1 year of the launch of Shakti Scheme in Karnataka, the Government was unable to provide Smart Cards to Women Beneficiaries as promised to them.

Scheme Benefits
- The following benefits will be provided to eligible women beneficiaries of Karnataka under Karnataka Shakti Scheme :-
- Free of Cost Bus Service across Karnataka.
- No Ticket Amount will be Charged from Women Beneficiaries travelling in Government of Karnataka Buses.
- Only Government Run Buses will provide Free of Cost Bus Services to Women of Karnataka.
Eligibility Requirements
- Beneficiary should be a Permanent Resident of Karnataka.
- Beneficiary should be a Woman. (Including Girls Age from 6 to 12)
Required Documents
- The following documents will be required to avail the benefit of Free Bus Service till issuing of Smart Card under Karnataka Shakti Scheme :-
- Aadhar Card OR,
- Voter Identity Card OR
- Any Photo Identity Card.
Steps to Apply
- Eligible Women Beneficiaries can apply for Smart Card for Free Bus Ride under Karnataka Shakti Scheme by filling the Online Application Form.
- Online Application Form for Shakti Scheme Smart Card is to be provided at Seva Sindhu Portal.
- Women Beneficiaries have to Register themselves first.
- After Registration, Login with the received details.
- Fill the Application Form of Shakti Scheme Smart Card and upload the required documents.
- Application Form will be verified by the concerned officials.
- After due verification, a smart card for free bus ride will be provided to every women beneficiary of Karnataka State.
- Women beneficiaries can avail the free of cost bus service till she get's a smart card by showing any photo identity proof.
- Free of Cost Bus Service will only be provided within the State boundary of Karnataka.
- Women Beneficiary can only avail the benefit of Free Bus Service in Karnataka Government Buses.

People are misusing this scheme. Everyday men and Students are suffering because of this scheme. In the buses even if seats are available in frontside ladies are occupying last seats only if we ask they will start argument. Everyday this argument going on. Even conductors ask them to go front ladies are not obliging his words. They will occupy senior citizen seats also. Some senior citizens never ask their seats if ladies are sitting but if men occupies they will come and ask very rudely.
This scheme is totally not happy for men, senior citizens and students.
Because of this many ladies are misusing this and dominating men in worst way.
With a great pain I am writing this and need to take action on this scheme. Better to close at the earliest.
Many men are depending on buses for their work. Because of this they are sufferings a lot. By paying ticket charges also men are standing and sufferings but ladies are enjoying free seats with time pass. Stop this scheme on priority.
