Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• The Government launched the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme (MMPCRK) in 2011 to support cancer patients who struggle to afford treatment.
• The scheme focuses on helping families with limited financial resources manage the high cost of cancer care.
• The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Punjab, implements this scheme.
• Through this initiative, the state government ensures that eligible cancer patients receive timely financial help so they can access treatment without delay at empanelled hospitals.
• Under the scheme, the government provides Rs. 1,50,000 as direct financial assistance, which it credits straight to the patient's bank account for cancer treatment.
• Only permanent residents of Punjab diagnosed with cancer can apply for this support.
• The scheme excludes government employees, ESI employees, their dependents, and individuals who already receive medical reimbursement benefits or hold health insurance from any insurance company.
• To make the process transparent and accessible, the Punjab Government has also launched an official online portal that hosts complete information about the scheme
• Eligible patients can submit their application through any empanelled government or private hospital.
• In addition to this scheme, the Punjab Government also offers free healthcare coverage up to Rs. 10 lakh under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, further strengthening healthcare support for citizens.

• The Punjab Government has empanelled 21 hospitals under the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme to ensure accessible cancer treatment across and outside the state.

• These include 10 government hospitals and 11 private hospitals.

Scheme Benefits

Eligibility Requirements

• Only permanent residents of Punjab can apply for this scheme.
• The applicant must be diagnosed with cancer and seek financial assistance for treatment.

Steps to Apply

• Cancer patients who seek financial support for treatment under the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme can apply directly through empanelled hospitals.
• The Punjab Government has empanelled 10 government hospitals and 11 private hospitals for this scheme.
• Eligible patients should visit any of these hospitals and fill out the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme Application Form at the hospital itself.
