Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Many aspiring entrepreneurs have the skills and determination to start a business, but limited financial resources often hold them back. To help overcome this challenge, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has launched the Madhya Pradesh Backward Class and Minority Self-Employment Scheme, which provides financial support and interest subsidies to eligible beneficiaries for starting small businesses and self-employment activities.

The objective of this scheme is to provide self-employment opportunities to people belonging to Backward Class and Minority communities and to make them economically self-reliant. Through this scheme, eligible beneficiaries are provided bank-linked financial assistance and interest subsidy to start a small business, shop, service activity, or other self-employment based work. Under the scheme, eligible applicants are provided financial assistance ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹1 lakh for approved projects. In addition, an interest subsidy at the rate of 3% per annum is also provided on the bank loan taken to start the business. This interest subsidy is provided for a maximum period of 7 years, which reduces the financial burden of the loan on the beneficiaries and allows them to focus better on developing their business.

This scheme is for permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh who belong to Backward Class or Minority communities. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the applicant's age should be between 18 and 55 years. No minimum educational qualification has been set under this scheme, so that more and more people can avail its benefits. The applicant must also possess a valid digital caste certificate and should not be an income tax payer. Additionally, the applicant should not be a beneficiary of any other State Government or Central Government self-employment scheme.
