Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
The Andhra Pradesh NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme, implemented by the Department of Rural Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh, provides regular social security pension support to eligible vulnerable persons. The scheme was previously known as the YSR Pension Kanuka Scheme and was renamed as the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It covers senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities, single women and eligible beneficiaries from various occupational, social and medical categories.
Under the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive a monthly pension ranging from ₹4,000 to ₹15,000, depending on their pension category and the applicable government guidelines. The scheme provides ₹4,000 to several categories, including old-age persons, widows, weavers, fishermen, toddy tappers, single women, transgender persons, traditional cobblers, Dappu artists and ART (PLHIV) beneficiaries. Higher pension amounts apply to eligible persons with disabilities and specified medical conditions.
To qualify for the pension, applicants must satisfy the prescribed common eligibility conditions, including the applicable family income, landholding, vehicle ownership, electricity consumption and other household criteria. Applicants must also meet the age, disability, occupational or medical requirements prescribed for their particular pension category. The scheme generally provides one pension per family, subject to specified exceptions for certain vulnerable categories.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has also prescribed a defined process for new NTR Bharosa pension applications. Under the latest 2026 guidelines, applicants submit the prescribed form and supporting documents through their respective Swarna Grama or Swarna Wardu office. The application undergoes eKYC, common eligibility validation and physical or departmental verification before the competent authorities process it for final sanction. Beneficiaries can also explore other healthcare support programmes in Andhra Pradesh, such as the Sanjeevani Scheme and NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme, for information on medical assistance and healthcare services.
