Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Karnataka Santwana Scheme provides financial assistance to eligible people belonging to religious minority communities whose houses or shops have been damaged or destroyed due to natural calamities or communal violence. Under the Karnataka Santwana Scheme, eligible beneficiaries can receive assistance of up to Rs. 5,00,000. The assistance is provided through a combination of subsidy and loan, with 50% of the sanctioned amount provided as subsidy and the remaining 50% as a loan. Therefore, beneficiaries need to repay only the loan portion of the assistance.

The scheme is available to eligible religious minority community members who are permanent residents of Karnataka. Applicants should be between 18 and 55 years of age, and their annual family income should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh. Applicants must also satisfy the prescribed conditions regarding previous loans from the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation and obtain a report from the concerned competent authority confirming the damage to their house or shop.

The Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation implements several welfare and financial assistance programmes for members of religious minority communities. For example, eligible students can seek educational financial assistance through the Karnataka Arivu Education Loan Scheme, while eligible students pursuing higher education abroad can explore the Karnataka Overseas Scholarship Scheme.

Eligible beneficiaries can submit the Karnataka Santwana Scheme online application through the KMDCL Online Application Management Portal. Applicants need to verify their mobile number and Aadhaar details, enter the required personal and address information, upload the necessary documents and submit the application online.

For the current 2026-27 application cycle, the last date to submit the Karnataka Santwana Scheme application is 17 September 2026. Applicants should complete the application before the deadline and save their Application ID after submission. They can also track the application status online through the KMDCL portal.

• Aggrieved beneficiaries must obtain a report from the concerned competent authority regarding the destruction or damage to their house or shop.
• The applicant or any family member should not be employed by the Central or State Government.
• The applicant or their family should not have availed a loan from the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation during the previous five years, except under the Arivu Education Loan Scheme and Foreign Education Loan Scheme.

Steps to Apply

Eligible religious minority community members can apply online for the Karnataka Santwana Scheme through the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Limited (KMDCL) Online Application Management Portal, whose process is given below:

• Visit the KMDCL Online Application Management Portal.
• Open the Karnataka Santwana Scheme Online Application Form.
• Enter your mobile number and verify it using the OTP received through SMS.
• Enter your Aadhaar number and complete Aadhaar verification using the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
• Select Karnataka Santwana Scheme from the available list of schemes.
• Enter the required personal, address and other details in the Karnataka Santwana Scheme application form.
• Upload the required documents and the applicant's photograph in the prescribed format.
• Preview the application form and carefully check all the details entered before submission.
• Click on the Submit button to submit the Karnataka Santwana Scheme online application.
• Save the generated Application ID for future reference and application tracking.
• Applicants can track the Karnataka Santwana Scheme application status online through the KMDCL portal.
• Eligible applicants should submit the Karnataka Santwana Scheme application before the current last date of 17 September 2026.
