Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• During higher education, many students leave their hometowns to study in other cities in search of better academic openings.
• To continue their studies, students often rent rooms or live in paying guest accommodations, which adds a heavy financial burden on top of tuition fees and daily living expenses.
• Recognising these challenges, the Rajasthan Government launched the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana to support students from economically weaker backgrounds.
• The primary objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to students who pursue their education away from their native village or town and currently live in rented accommodation.
• The Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Rajasthan, implements and monitors this scheme.
• Under the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana, eligible students receive Rs. 2,000 per month for 10 months to support their education expenses.
• The scheme covers students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate courses in colleges located within Rajasthan.
• Only students belonging to SC, ST, MBC, OBC, and EWS categories can apply for this monthly financial assistance.
• Living in rented accommodation is a mandatory condition to receive benefits under the scheme.
• The Rajasthan Government allows students to apply through both online and offline modes.

Scheme Benefits

• The government will provide monthly financial assistance to the selected students.
• Each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs. 2,000 per month for a total duration of 10 months.

Eligibility Requirements

• Only permanent residents of Rajasthan can apply.
• The scheme allows male students only to submit applications.
• Applicants must currently pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate course in a government college located in Rajasthan.
• Students must live in rented accommodation to qualify for the benefit.
• The applicant must belong to any one of the following categories :-
  • SC.
  • ST.
  • MBC.
  • OBC.
  • EWS.
• The government provides benefits under this scheme for a maximum period of five years.
• The student's annual family income must fall within the prescribed limits :-
  • For SC, ST, and MBC categories :- Not More than Rs. 2,50,000/- per Year.
  • For OBC categories :- Not More than Rs. 1,50,000/- per Year.
  • For EWS categories :- Not More than Rs. 1,00,000/- per Year.

Ineligibility

• Students cannot apply for the scheme under the following conditions :-
  • If the student studies in a private or non-government college.
  • If the family's annual income exceeds the prescribed limit.
  • If the student's parents or legal guardian owns a residential house in the same city where the student is pursuing studies.
  • If the student lives within the municipal corporation, municipal council, or municipality limits of the city where the government college is located.
  • If the student stays in a hostel facility provided by the government college.
  • If the student has already received benefits under this scheme for five continuous years.

• Aadhaar Card of Students.

• Rent Agreement. (Mandatory)
• Last Passed Exam Marksheet.
• Certificate of Regular Study.
• Mobile Number and Email ID.
• Recent Color Photo.
• Bank Account Details.
• Income Declaration.

Steps to Apply

• The Rajasthan Government provides the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana online application form through its Single Sign On (SSO) Portal.
• Eligible students must visit the SSO Portal and choose the Registration option.
• Students can complete registration using their Jan Aadhaar number or a valid email address.
• After successful registration, the portal sends the username and password to the applicant's registered email ID.
• Students must log in again using the received login credentials.
• Once logged in, they need to search for SJMS SMS in the portal's search bar.
• From the available services, students should select the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana.
• The Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana application form will then appear on the screen.
• Applicants must carefully enter the required details, including :-
  • Personal details.
  • Address details.
  • Necessary documents for upload.
• After filling in all the information, students must review the form thoroughly and click on the Submit button.
• The concerned educational institution will verify the submitted application form and the uploaded documents.
• After verification, the institution will forward the list of eligible students to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department for final approval.
• Once the department grants approval, it will send the sanctioned list to the District Collector.
• The government will then transfer the approved assistance amount directly to the beneficiary's bank account through DBT.

• However, the beneficiary student can also apply for the Ambedkar DBT Voucher Yojana by visiting the nearest E-Mitra Kendra.
