Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Construction workers in Uttarakhand often face irregular incomes and high costs for daughters' weddings. The state government addresses this through the Uttarakhand Samuhik Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana, implemented by the UKBOCWWB under the Labour Department. The scheme provides financial support for registered workers when their daughters marry in organised group events, promoting simple and dignified ceremonies. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and DIPR have highlighted the assistance, confirming it remains active in 2026, with applications processed through the Labour Department / UKBOCWWB offices and benefits transferred after verification.

Under the scheme, eligible workers receive ₹61,000 as direct financial assistance for their daughter’s group marriage. In addition, ₹10,000 per couple is paid to the organiser to cover the costs of arranging the mass marriage, and ₹5,000 each is given to the bride and groom for purchasing wedding attire.

The government runs two parallel schemes under the names Financial Assistance for Daughter’s Marriage (UKBOCWWB) and UK Shaadi Anudan Yojana. The UKBOCWWB scheme offers ₹51,000 per marriage for the worker’s own wedding or for the marriage of up to two daughters in individual (non-group) ceremonies, while UK Shaadi Anudan Yojana provides ₹50,000 for eligible BPL families. Applicants cannot claim both forms of assistance for the same marriage.

Eligibility is restricted to construction workers who are actively registered with the board. For the group-marriage scheme, the application must be submitted at least 15 days before the scheduled date of the event. The bride must be at least 18 years old and the groom at least 21 years old on the date of marriage. Aadhaar authentication of the daughter is mandatory. The family must not have already received similar marriage assistance from any other government department for the same purpose. A self-declaration confirming this is required.

Applications for the Samuhik Kanya Vivah Sahayata scheme are accepted offline. Applicants need to collect the form from the nearest UKBOCWWB or Labour Department office, fill it, attach documents, and submit it there. After submission, Board authorities verify the details, and approved assistance is processed according to the guidelines. Workers are advised to contact the nearest UKBOCWWB Labour Department well in advance to confirm current procedures, document checklists, and any scheduled group marriage events in their district.
