Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • The Yogyashree Scheme was introduced by the West Bengal Government during the 2021–22 period to strengthen competitive exam preparation among students.
  • This initiative aims to encourage meritorious students by giving them structured academic support so they can prepare effectively for major entrance and competitive examinations and shape a strong career path.
  • The scheme is officially implemented by the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe & Other Backward Class Development and Finance Corporation of the Government of West Bengal.
  • Through its network of District Training Centres, the state government facilitates free coaching arrangements for students aspiring to appear in JEE, NEET, and WBJEE examinations.
  • All coaching services offered under the Yogyashree Scheme are provided free of charge, and no fees are charged from selected beneficiaries at any stage.
  • Under this program, the government will going to identify and enrol around 5,000 students from the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, OBC, Minority, and General categories into recognised coaching centres for entrance exam preparation.
  • Students currently studying in Class 11th (Science stream) whose family income does not exceed Rs. 3,00,000/- per annum are eligible to apply for coaching support.
  • To maintain academic standards, the government has prescribed minimum qualifying marks in the previous examination which are :-

  • The application process for the Yogyashree Scheme is currently open, and eligible candidates may apply online or offline until 24 December 2025.
  • The online application form is available on the official website of the SC, ST & OBC Development and Finance Corporation, from where the offline application form can also be downloaded.
  • West Bengal Students can also avail the educational loan under the "Student Credit Card Scheme".

Scheme Benefits

  • Eligible students will be enrolled in free coaching programs for competitive examinations under the Yogyashree Scheme.
  • Coaching support will be provided for major entrance exams such as NEET, JEE, WBJEE, along with preparation assistance for other government service examinations.
  • Shortlisted candidates will also be granted a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 300 during the coaching period.
  • In addition to classroom training, students will receive study materials, reference books, notes, and access to motivational guidance and counselling sessions to support their preparation journey.

Eligibility Requirement

  • Only permanent residents of West Bengal are eligible to apply under this scheme.
  • The applicant must be currently enrolled in Class 11, and the Science stream is mandatory.
  • To qualify, students are required to have obtained minimum qualifying marks in their previous examination, as specified below :-
    • Scheduled Tribe (ST): at least 50% marks.
    • Scheduled Caste (SC): minimum 60% marks.
    • Other Backwards Class (OBC): not less than 65% marks.
    • General and Minority categories: minimum 70% marks.
  • The scheme is open to students belonging to any one of the following social categories :-
    • General.
    • Scheduled Tribe. (ST)
    • Scheduled Caste. (SC)
    • Other Backwards Class. (OBC)
    • Minority.
  • The total annual income of the student's family must not exceed Rs. 3 lakh per year to be considered eligible.

Required Documents

  • Aadhaar Card of the Applicant.
  • Class 10 Examination Mark Sheet.
  • Recent Passport-Size Photograph.
  • Valid Caste Certificate (Photocopy).
  • Family Income Certificate or Self-Attested Income Declaration.
  • Student's Bank Account Details, including IFSC code.
  • Active Mobile Number for Communication.
  • Valid Email ID.

Steps to Apply

  • Both Online and offline is are available through which an interested applicant can apply for the West Bengal Government's Yogyashree Scheme.

Through the Online Application Form

  • The online application form for the West Bengal Government's Yogyashree Scheme is live on the official website of the SC, ST & OBC Development and Finance Corporation.
  • Visit the official portal and click on the "Apply Now" option when the application pop-up appears on the screen.
  • You will be redirected to a new page displaying details related to Pre-Examination Training for SC, ST, General, OBC, and Minority category students.
  • On the same page, the official Yogyashree Scheme advertisement is also available, which applicants are advised to read carefully to understand the eligibility conditions.
  • After reviewing the details, proceed by clicking on the "Apply Online" button to start filling out the Yogyashree Scheme Online Application Form.
  • A comprehensive Yogyashree Prakalpa online form will open for the applicant.
  • The first part of the form focuses on student information, where details such as Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Residential Address, Mobile Number, and Police Station must be entered accurately.
  • Next, the student needs to select preferences, including Training Centre choice, preferred coaching location, course name, medium of instruction, and Class 10 examination details.
  • In the following section, applicants must provide complete parent or guardian details as required in the form.
  • After that, enter the banking information of the student, including Account Number, Bank Name, Branch Name, and IFSC Code.
  • The final step of the Yogyashree online application involves uploading all the prescribed supporting documents in the specified format.
  • Once all sections are completed, carefully review the information, fill in the captcha code, and click on Submit to complete the online application process.
  • All submitted applications will be scrutinised by the concerned departmental authorities.
  • Students who are shortlisted for free coaching for JEE, NEET, or WBJEE will receive notification through SMS or email.
  • Selected beneficiaries will then be required to join the coaching classes at their chosen training centre.
  • Applicants can track their Yogyashree Scheme application status by logging into the official portal.
  • The deadline to submit the online application for free coaching under the Yogyashree Scheme is 24 December 2025.

Through the Offline Application Form

  • Eligible candidates who wish to avail free entrance exam coaching under the West Bengal Government's Yogyashree Scheme can also complete their enrollment through the offline mode.
  • Applicants may obtain the Yogyashree Scheme Offline Application Form from their respective District Training Centre, or alternatively download it from the official website of the SC, ST & OBC Development and Finance Corporation.
  • Carefully enter the required details in the Yogyashree Application Form, including :-
    • Personal details of the student.
    • Information related to the parent or legal guardian.
    • Student's bank account particulars for financial records.
    • Income declaration of the family, to be certified by the parent or guardian.
  • Ensure that all mandatory supporting documents are attached to the application form before submission.
  • After completing the form, submit it along with the required documents at the District Training Centre of your area or at the District Office of the SC, ST & OBC Development and Finance Corporation.
  • The submitted applications will be verified and evaluated by the concerned authorities to identify eligible students.
  • Candidates selected for free coaching under the Yogyashree Scheme will receive confirmation through an SMS alert on their registered mobile number.
  • Selected students can then join the recognised coaching institutes assigned under the scheme and begin focused preparation for JEE, NEET, or WBJEE examinations.
  • For any clarification, guidance, or assistance related to the Yogyashree Prakalpa, students may directly contact the District Officer or visit the District Office of the Corporation.
