Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Minimata Mahtari Jatan Yojana is a maternity welfare scheme implemented by the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board for the benefit of registered female construction workers in the state. The scheme was launched on 04 March 2010 with the objective of providing financial support to women workers during childbirth and ensuring better maternal and child welfare among construction worker families.

Women engaged in construction work often face financial hardship during pregnancy and childbirth due to loss of wages, medical expenses, nutritional requirements, and the need for post-delivery care. Recognizing these challenges, the Welfare Board introduced this scheme to provide direct financial assistance in the form of wage compensation during the maternity period.

Under the latest provisions of the scheme, eligible female construction workers who have been registered with the Board for at least one year before childbirth can receive a one-time assistance amount of ₹20,000. The assistance is provided as a wage compensation benefit to help beneficiaries manage expenses related to delivery, nutrition, healthcare, and newborn care.

Registered construction workers in Chhattisgarh may also be eligible for various welfare schemes implemented by the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. In addition to maternity assistance under the Minimata Mahtari Jatan Yojana, eligible workers can avail benefits under schemes such as the Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Nirman Shramik Awas Sahayata Yojana for housing assistance, the Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Shramik Siyan Sahayata Yojana for senior construction workers, and the Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Nirman Shramik Pension Sahayata Yojana for post-retirement financial support.
