Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Andhra Pradesh Government launched the Thalliki Vandanam Scheme to provide annual financial assistance to eligible students studying from Class I to Class XII in recognised educational institutions across the State. The scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on families, encourage continuous education, and improve student enrolment and retention. Unlike the previous Amma Vodi Scheme, the benefit is available for every eligible child in a family who satisfies the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Under the Andhra Pradesh Thalliki Vandanam Scheme, the Government provides Rs. 15,000 per eligible student every year. Out of this amount, Rs. 13,000 is transferred directly to the Aadhaar-linked bank account of the mother or guardian through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The remaining Rs. 2,000 is utilised for school maintenance, sanitation, and infrastructure development. The scheme covers students studying in Government, Government Aided, recognised Private Schools, Residential Welfare Schools, KGBVs, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Special Schools, and Junior Colleges.

Students must fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed by the Government to receive the benefit. The mother or guardian must have an Aadhaar-linked bank account for DBT. There is no separate application process for the scheme. Eligible beneficiaries are identified through data submitted by schools and verified using Government welfare and household databases before the assistance is released.

For the academic year 2026–27, the Andhra Pradesh Government has continued the Thalliki Vandanam Scheme and released the annual financial assistance on 22 July 2026. The Government has allocated Rs. 10,120.78 crore under the scheme to benefit around 67,47,190 students. Financial assistance will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of nearly 42,70,802 mothers or guardians, reaffirming the Government's commitment to supporting school education across the State.

The Government has also provided a grievance redressal mechanism for families declared ineligible during verification. Eligible beneficiaries can submit objections within the notified period for reconsideration. Through the Thalliki Vandanam Scheme, the Andhra Pradesh Government aims to improve school enrolment, reduce dropout rates, and ensure that financial constraints do not prevent children from completing their education. Beneficiaries can also check their eligibility and payment status online through the official Navasakam Beneficiary Management (NBM) Portal.
