Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Karnataka Arya Vysya Aahara Vahini Scheme (also known as the Arya Vysya Food Truck Scheme or Bank Tie-up Arya Vysya Ahara Vahini Scheme) is a focused livelihood programme of the Karnataka Arya Vysya Community Development Corporation Ltd. (KACDC), a Government of Karnataka undertaking. The scheme supports members of the Arya Vysya community in establishing mobile food businesses by providing financial assistance for the purchase and conversion of vehicles into food trucks.

Recognising the community's traditional expertise in preparing quality food, the Corporation aims to promote financial self-sufficiency and overall socio-economic development through practical self-employment opportunities. Under this bank-linked scheme, eligible beneficiaries can receive a maximum subsidy of ₹2 lakh (released in two stages) when they obtain a complementary loan from a nationalised bank, co-operative bank, regional rural bank or scheduled bank for a unit costing approximately ₹6 lakh to ₹12 lakh.

To qualify, applicants must belong to the Arya Vysya community, hold a valid Form-G caste and income certificate, have an annual family income not exceeding ₹6 lakh, be aged between 21 and 55 years, and be permanent residents of Karnataka. Reservations of 33% for women, 5% for specially-abled candidates, and 5% for third-gender candidates are provided. Only one member per family is eligible to apply. Applications are accepted online through the official Corporation website.

By combining subsidy support with formal bank credit, the scheme significantly reduces the initial capital barrier that often prevents small entrepreneurs from starting a food-truck business. Beneficiaries receive up to ₹2 lakh as a subsidy in two stages while arranging the remaining amount through a bank loan, making it easier to purchase a suitable vehicle and convert it into a functional mobile eatery. This practical approach helps members of the Arya Vysya community turn their traditional food skills into a sustainable source of self-employment and steady income.

Scheme Benefits

Under the Karnataka Arya Vysya Aahara Vahini Scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive the following benefits:

  • Maximum financial assistance of ₹2.00 lakh per unit is available under the official guidelines.
  • The assistance is given only when the beneficiary has secured a loan from an eligible bank or financial institution for a unit cost of approximately ₹6 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
  • This bank-linked model allows the beneficiary to finance the major portion of the cost through a formal loan while receiving substantial support from the Corporation.
  • Reservations: 33% for women, 5% for specially-abled (differently-abled) candidates, and 5% for third-gender candidates.
  • Beneficiaries who had taken loans under the Self-Employment Direct Loan Scheme for 2019-20 and 2020-21 can reapply under this scheme if they have fully repaid that loan within the prescribed period.
