Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Haryana Widow and Destitute Women Pension Scheme is a social security pension scheme of the Government of Haryana that provides monthly financial assistance to eligible widow and destitute women. The scheme aims to help women who have lost their source of financial support by providing a regular pension to meet their day-to-day expenses and improve their financial security. Administered by the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment, the scheme has been in operation since 1980-81 and is one of the major social welfare initiatives of the State Government.

Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive a monthly pension of Rs. 3,200, which is credited directly to their Aadhaar-linked bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The Haryana Government enhanced the monthly pension from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 3,200 with effect from 1 November 2025. The same revision also increased the pension amount under other Social Security Pension Schemes of the State, including the Old Age Samman Allowance Scheme, Disability Pension Scheme, and other social welfare pension schemes administered by the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment. This financial assistance helps beneficiaries meet their essential living expenses while strengthening their social and financial security.

Widow women and eligible destitute women who are 18 years of age or above and below 60 years, are domiciles of Haryana, and whose own annual income from all sources is below Rs. 3,00,000 can apply for the scheme, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions. The scheme also covers women who have become destitute due to desertion or because of the physical or mental incapacity of their husband or parents, as defined under the scheme guidelines. Pension under this scheme is sanctioned up to the age of 60 years. After attaining the age of 60 years, the beneficiary's pension is automatically converted into the Old Age Samman Allowance Scheme, subject to the applicable provisions of that scheme.

Eligible applicants can submit their Haryana Widow and Destitute Women Pension Scheme application either online through the Antyodaya SARAL Portal or offline at the concerned District Office of the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment. After successful verification of the application and supporting documents, the approved monthly pension is credited directly to the beneficiary's bank account, ensuring timely and transparent delivery of benefits.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a woman who is 18 years of age or above and below 60 years.
• The applicant must be a resident of Haryana and should have been residing in the State for at least one year immediately before submitting the application.
• The applicant's own annual income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 3,00,000.
• The applicant must satisfy any one of the following conditions:
  • She is a widow.
  • She is a destitute woman having no husband, parents, or son(s).
  • She is a destitute woman due to:
    • Desertion by her husband; or
    • Physical or mental incapacity of her husband (in case of a married woman); or
    • Physical or mental incapacity of her parents (in case of an unmarried or other eligible woman).
• A woman employed by the Central Government, State Government, Local Body, Statutory Body, or any organisation substantially financed by the Government is not eligible under the scheme.
• A woman who is already receiving a pension or family pension from the Government or any Government-funded organisation is not eligible.
• Income from accumulated savings or investments, including Provident Fund, annuities, or similar financial instruments, is considered while determining eligibility as per the prevailing Social Security Pension rules.

• Family ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra - PPP).
• Passport-size photograph.
• Mobile Number.
• Bank Account Passbook (Aadhaar-linked bank account for DBT).
• Own Income Certificate or any other document prescribed to establish that the applicant's annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 3,00,000.
• Age Proof (Any one of the following):
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Class 10 Certificate/Marksheet.
  • Any other Government-issued document showing Date of Birth.
• Death Certificate of Husband (For Widow Applicants).
• Document/Certificate supporting Destitute Status, wherever applicable.
• Caste Certificate (Only if applicable).
• Any other document required by the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment or the sanctioning authority during verification.

Eligible women can apply for the Haryana Widow and Destitute Women Pension Scheme through both online and offline modes. The online application can be submitted through the Antyodaya SARAL Portal, while applicants who prefer offline mode can submit the prescribed application form at the concerned District Office of the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment. • Eligible widow and destitute women can apply online for the Haryana Widow and Destitute Women Pension Scheme through the Antyodaya SARAL Portal.
• If you are a new user, complete the citizen registration on the portal.
• Log in to the Antyodaya SARAL Portal using your registered credentials.
• Search for the Widow and Destitute Women Pension Scheme from the list of available services.
• Fill in the online application form with the required personal, income, and bank account details.
• Upload the required documents and verify the entered information.
• Submit the application form online and keep the Application ID safely for future reference.
• The concerned authority will verify the application and supporting documents.

Offline Application Process

• Eligible widow and destitute women can also apply offline for the Haryana Widow and Destitute Women Pension Scheme.
• Collect the offline application form from the District Office of the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment or download it using the provided link.
• Fill in the application form with the required personal, income, and bank account details.
• Attach all the prescribed supporting documents with the completed application form.
• Submit the duly filled application form to the concerned District Office of the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment.
• The concerned authority will verify the application and the submitted documents.
