Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
Higher education can be expensive, especially for students pursuing professional and technical courses. Many deserving students are unable to continue their studies because of the high cost of tuition and examination fees. To help such students and make higher education more affordable, the Government of Maharashtra launched the Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulk Scholarship Scheme.
Under this scheme, eligible students studying in approved professional and non-professional courses receive financial assistance towards their Tuition Fee (Shikshan Shulk) and applicable Examination Fee. Depending on the student's annual family income, course, and type of institution, the Government provides up to 100% Tuition Fee assistance. Students from families earning up to ₹2.50 lakh per year can receive 100% Tuition Fee assistance in Government and Government-aided institutions for professional courses, while eligible students in partially aided and permanently unaided institutions receive 50% Tuition Fee assistance.
Students whose annual family income is above ₹2.50 lakh and up to ₹8 lakh can receive 50% Tuition Fee assistance for professional courses. For eligible students enrolled in non-professional courses, the scheme provides 100% Tuition Fee assistance along with examination fee assistance as per Government rules. The scholarship amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system after successful verification.
If you are a girl student belonging to the VJNT, SBC, or OBC category and studying in Classes 5 to 10 in Maharashtra, you may also be eligible for the Savitribai Phule Scholarship Scheme. This scheme provides financial assistance to encourage girls to continue their education and reduce school dropout rates. While the Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulk Scholarship Scheme supports students pursuing higher education by providing tuition and examination fee assistance, the Savitribai Phule Scholarship Scheme focuses on helping eligible school-going girls continue their studies. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can explore both schemes to receive educational support at different stages of your academic journey.
