Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme (INYTS) is a financial assistance scheme of the Government of Manipur implemented by the Social Welfare Department. The scheme is designed for women who are above 40 years of age, and are living without a source of livelihood. Under the scheme, eligible selected beneficiaries receive ₹500 per month as financial assistance. The scheme is intended to benefit approximately 4 lakh women in Manipur.

The scheme was announced by the Government of Manipur on 12 December 2023 during the commemoration of Nupi Lan Day. It aims to empower women through financial assistance, promote their economic independence, and support their overall well-being. The scheme also seeks to provide monetary help for the various livelihood needs of women above 40 years of age.

The Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme specifically addresses women who are not covered by existing government schemes for individual beneficiaries and who do not have a source of livelihood. The notified target groups include widows, divorcees, separated women, single women, single transgender women, deprived and marginalised women including ex-drug users, and women belonging to low-income households and other marginalised groups. However, applicants must still satisfy the core eligibility conditions prescribed under the scheme.

For the current application cycle, the Directorate of Social Welfare, Manipur, has invited fresh applications under the scheme. Eligible applicants can submit their applications along with the required documents to the concerned District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO). A subsequent notification specifically clarifies that an INYTS applicant's age must be supported by either an HSLC Examination Certificate or Birth Certificate. Applications submitted without the prescribed age-proof document will not be considered. Applicants are advised to apply on time.

Apart from schemes for women, the Social Welfare Department also implements the Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme (MOAPS) for elderly and destitute persons. Under MOAPS, eligible senior citizens aged 60 years and above receive a monthly pension of ₹200 so that they get financial support in their old age.

Latest Update:- Applications for Manipur Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme (INYTS) are open from 22nd September 2026 to 31st October 2026 as per the official notification dated 21st September 2026. 

Scheme Benefits

The Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme offers direct monthly support to women who have no one to depend on financially. Selected beneficiaries under this scheme receive the following benefits:

• Assistance amount: Rs. 500 per month to every selected beneficiary.
• Livelihood support: The assistance supports women in their diverse livelihood pursuits.
• Wide coverage: The scheme covers widows, divorcees, separated women, single women, single transgender women, and marginalised women.
• Covers 4 Lakh Women: The Government of Manipur designed the scheme to benefit approximately 4 lakh women above 40 years of age in the state.
• Gap coverage: The scheme supports women who are not covered by the existing government schemes.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed in the Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme guidelines.

• The applicant must be a resident of Manipur.
• The applicant must be above 40 years of age.
• The scheme specifically targets:-
  • Widows
  • Divorcees
  • Separated women
  • Single women
  • Single transgender women
  • Deprived and marginalised women, including ex-drug users
  • Women belonging to low-income households and other marginalised groups.
• The applicant must be living without any source of livelihood.
• The applicant must not be a beneficiary of any existing government scheme for individual beneficiaries.

Required Documents

Applicants must attach the following documents with the application form:

• Aadhaar Card as proof of identity
• Residential Certificate
• Certificate confirming that the applicant is not a beneficiary of an existing government scheme for an individual beneficiary, issued by the Panchayat, Municipality or District Council
• Unemployment Certificate/Income Certificate issued by a Gazetted Officer
• Age-proof document

Steps to Apply

The official notification requires applicants to submit the prescribed application form at the office of the concerned District Social Welfare Officer. Follow the steps below to apply:

• Collect the prescribed application form from the office of the concerned District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO).
• Fill in your personal details such as name, age, address, Aadhaar number, and mobile number.
• Paste a passport-size photograph in the space provided on the form.
• Enter your bank account details, including account number, bank name, branch, and IFSC code.
• Sign the declaration confirming that the information is true and giving consent for the use of your Aadhaar.
• Attach all the required documents listed above.
• Attach the HSLC Examination Certificate or Birth Certificate as age proof. The department will not consider the form without it.
• Submit the completed form at the office of the District Social Welfare Officer of your district.

Verification and Selection Process

• The District Social Welfare Officer receives the applications at the district level.
• The District Screening Committee, chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, prepares the list of verified beneficiaries of the district.
• The State Selection Committee, chaired by the Director (Social Welfare), acts as the final authority for selecting beneficiaries.
• Selected beneficiaries receive Rs. 500 per month as financial assistance.

Note: The last date to apply for the Manipur Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme is 31st October 2026. Applicants are advised to submit their applications well before the deadline.
