Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Madhya Pradesh Mukhyamantri Aarthik Kalyan Yojana stands as a focused self-employment support initiative of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Originally introduced in 2014 under the Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, the scheme is now administered by the Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME). At its heart, the programme seeks to enable the poorest sections of society to establish modest new enterprises by bridging the gap between limited personal resources and the capital needed for basic equipment or working capital through a blend of government margin-money assistance and bank financing.

Under the prevailing guidelines, the total project cost is limited to a maximum of ₹50,000. Margin-money support is structured on a tiered basis: general-category applicants may receive up to 15 per cent of the project cost, while BPL families, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (excluding the creamy layer), women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and denotified nomadic and semi-nomadic groups are eligible for assistance of up to 50 per cent of the project cost, subject to a ceiling of ₹15,000. Only entirely new enterprises qualify. The balance of the project cost is met through a bank loan. Beneficiaries are granted a minimum six-month moratorium, after which the loan is to be repaid over a period of five years.

Eligibility is straightforward and inclusive. Applicants must be permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh and fall within the age bracket of 18 to 55 years; no minimum educational qualification is prescribed. Preference is accorded to members of Antyodaya or Priority households under the National Food Security Mission (PDS cardholders). As of 2026, the Mukhyamantri Aarthik Kalyan Scheme remains operational and accessible through the official MP Online MSME portal. Interested applicants can submit their applications online via the portal, which routes the process through the relevant department or implementing agency. Once scrutinised, eligible cases are forwarded to banks for consideration of loan sanction in accordance with the scheme's guidelines.

By pairing a measured government contribution with institutional credit, the scheme deliberately lowers the initial capital threshold that often deters economically weaker sections from launching small self-employment ventures, thereby rendering such enterprises more attainable and sustainable.

Scheme Benefits

The Mukhyamantri Aarthik Kalyan Scheme provides financial support to help economically weaker sections start small new enterprises by combining government margin-money assistance with bank credit, thereby reducing the initial capital burden. The key benefits available under the scheme are as follows:

• The maximum project cost under the scheme is capped at ₹50,000.
• Margin-money assistance:
  • General category – up to 15% of project cost
  • BPL, SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), women, minority, disabled, and denotified nomadic/semi-nomadic groups – 50% of project cost (maximum ₹15,000)
• Remaining amount provided as a bank loan.
• Minimum six-month initial moratorium on repayment.
• Loan repayment period of five years after the moratorium.
• Support available only for setting up new industry, service, or business units within Madhya Pradesh.

The MP CM Aarthik Kalyan Yojana covers small self-employment activities such as: 

• Barbers/hair stylists
• Street vendors
• Handcart operators
• Cycle-rickshaw drivers
• Potters
• Similar occupations.

Eligibility Requirements

Before you spend time on the form, check yourself against these conditions. They're applied fairly strictly, so it helps to be honest about each one.

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
• The applicant should belong to:
  • Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • Backward Class
  • Minority community
  • Economically weaker / BPL household.
• Age should be between 18 and 55 years.
• The applicant should be literate (basic literacy is expected; there is no high educational bar).
• The applicant must not be a defaulter with any nationalised bank, financial institution, or cooperative bank.
• The applicant should not have already taken the benefit of this or a similar government self-employment/grant scheme - MMAKY is a one-time benefit.

• Sign up by entering basic details to create your account.
• Log in with the credentials received.
• Fill out the online form with personal, address, category, bank, and proposed business details (project cost max ₹50,000).
• Upload all the required documents (Aadhaar/Voter ID/Driving Licence, ration card, domicile certificate, birth certificate, SC caste certificate, bank details, disability certificate if applicable).
• Submit the form and note the application number for tracking status on the same portal.

• On the home page, click on the Track Application Click Here tab.
• Enter your Application Number in the Application No. field.
• Click Search to view the current status of your application.
