Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Medical Assistance (Karmika Arogya Bhagya) scheme is a welfare program launched by the Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board under the Department of Labour, Government of Karnataka. It aims to provide financial support to registered construction workers and their dependents during hospitalisation.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries can receive financial assistance for treatment in government hospitals, private hospitals, or hospitals covered under any State Government insurance scheme. The support is provided at the rate of ₹300 per day, up to a maximum of ₹20,000 for a continuous period of hospitalisation, subject to actual expenses.

To avail the benefits, the worker must be hospitalised for at least 48 continuous hours. The applicant should be a registered construction worker (or dependent), at least 18 years old, and should have worked in construction for a minimum of 90 days in a year. Treatment must be taken in a recognised hospital.

The Karnataka Government runs many healthcare schemes to support different groups of people. Along with the Karnataka Karmika Arogya Bhagya Scheme for construction workers, it also offers the Karnataka Ambedkar Karmika Sahaya Hastha Scheme, Karnataka KSRTC Arogya Scheme, and Karnataka Gruha Arogya Yojana, ensuring medical and financial help reaches people across the state.
