Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Rajasthan Chief Minister Higher Education Scholarship Scheme (Mukhyamantri Uchch Shiksha Chhatravriti Yojana) is a merit-based scholarship scheme launched by the Government of Rajasthan to support students pursuing higher education after Class 12. The scheme provides financial assistance to meritorious students from low-income families, helping them continue their higher studies without financial constraints. It is administered by the Higher Education Department, Government of Rajasthan, and implemented through the Commissionerate of College Education, Rajasthan.

The scheme aims to support talented students belonging to economically weaker sections and encourage them to continue their studies. CM Higher Education Scholarship Rajasthan covers students who appear in the first one lakh positions of the senior secondary (Class 12) merit list of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), Ajmer, whose family income does not exceed ₹2.50 lakh per year and who do not receive any other scholarship or incentive.

Under the scheme, an eligible student gets ₹500 per month for up to 10 months, which means a maximum of ₹5,000 per year. Meritorious students with 40% or more disability get a higher amount of ₹1,000 per month, i.e., up to ₹10,000 per year. A regular student can receive the benefit for a maximum of 5 years. Each year, the scholarship goes to one lakh new eligible students as well as to the earlier beneficiaries who continue to study regularly in a higher education institution, so the scheme works on both fresh and renewal applications.

The entire application process of the Chief Minister Higher Education Scholarship Scheme is conducted online. Students can log in using their Rajasthan SSO ID and access the scheme through the Scholarship (CE) section. After submitting the application, the college or institution head verifies the required documents and forwards the application to the concerned district nodal officer for further processing. No application fee is charged under the scheme.

Like the Rajasthan Chief Minister Higher Education Scholarship Scheme, the state government also runs other schemes to support students. The Swami Vivekananda Scholarship for Academic Excellence provides financial aid for higher studies in top Indian and foreign universities, while the Kali Bai Bhil Medhavi Chhatra Scooty Yojana offers free scooties or equivalent assistance to meritorious girl students to encourage higher education.

Latest Update: Through a notification dated 28 September 2026, the College Education Department has opened the scholarship portal for the financial year 2026-27. Eligible students can apply online for the Rajasthan Chief Minister Higher Education Scholarship Scheme from 1 October 2026 to 30 November 2026. The application window is currently open.
