About the Scheme

Pursuing quality education often becomes challenging for talented students when financial constraints stand in the way. From school education to professional and international higher studies, the cost of tuition fees, books, accommodation, and other academic expenses continues to rise every year. To ensure that deserving students are not forced to compromise on their education due to financial difficulties, the SBI Foundation (CSR arm of State Bank of India)has launched the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2026-27 as part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The scholarship is one of India's largest merit-cum-means scholarship programs, designed to support academically bright students from economically weaker families at different stages of their educational journey. It covers students studying in Classes 9 to 12, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, MBBS, IITs, IIMs, as well as Indian students pursuing postgraduate education at leading universities abroad. Depending on the scholarship category, eligible students can receive financial assistance ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹15 lakh, helping them manage educational expenses and continue their studies with greater financial security.

By encouraging academic excellence and expanding access to quality education, the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship aims to empower deserving students across the country and help them build a stronger future without financial barriers.

Reservation Policy

The scholarship follows the following reservation policy across all categories:

  • 50% seats reserved for women
  • 50% seats reserved for men
  • 25% seats reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates
  • 25% seats reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates
  • 5% seats reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

Eligibility Criteria

Pursuing MBBS at AIIMS or a Top 50 NIRF Medical College with a valid NEET scorecard.

IIT Students
Studying at any of the 23 IITs with a valid JEE Advanced scorecard.

IIM Students
Studying at any of the 22 IIMs with a valid CAT scorecard.
Minimum 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA (65% for SC/ST, 60% for PwBD). Annual family income: Up to ₹6,00,000.
Overseas Studies
Indian nationals pursuing or holding an offer for a postgraduate (or higher) program at a QS Top 200 University with a valid GRE/GMAT/MCAT/LNAT/LSAT scorecard.
Minimum 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA (65% for SC/ST, 60% for PwBD). Annual family income: Up to ₹6,00,000.

Steps to Apply

The application process for the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship is completely online. Before applying, keep all the required documents scanned in PDF format and ensure that the information entered matches your official records, especially your Aadhaar details.

Follow these steps to complete the application:

  • Step 1: Register on the Scholarship Portal
  • Step 2: Select Your Scholarship Category
    • After logging in, click "Start Now" and choose the scholarship category that matches your current level of education, such as School, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, MBBS, IIT, IIM, or Overseas Studies.
    • Review the list of required documents before proceeding.
  • Step 3: Fill in Personal and Address Details
    • Enter your date of birth, annual family income, mobile number, WhatsApp number (if available), gender, category, disability status (if applicable), parents' status, number of siblings, and APAAR ID (if available).
    • Then provide your complete address exactly as mentioned in your Aadhaar card.
  • Step 4: Enter Academic Details
    • Provide your educational information, including Class 10 and Class 12 details (where applicable), board, school name, year of passing, marks or CGPA, and details of your current course.
    • You will also need to enter your college or institution name, course, stream, academic year, semester, fee details, expected year of completion, and previous academic performance.
  • Step 5: Provide Family Information
    • Enter your parent or guardian's details, including their name, relationship, educational qualification, occupation, mobile number, and annual income.
  • Step 6: Add References
    • Provide the details of two references, such as your class teacher, professor, Head of Department (HOD), Principal, or Dean.
    • Enter their name, designation, and contact number, as these details may be used during the verification process.
  • Step 7: Enter Bank Account Details
    • Fill in your bank account information, including the account holder's name, account number, IFSC code, bank name, and branch.
    • If you do not have a bank account in your name, you may provide your parent's bank account details. An SBI account is preferred, but accounts in other banks are also accepted.
  • Step 8: Complete the Scholarship Questionnaire
    • Answer the questions related to your educational background, career goals, achievements, family background, how you plan to use the scholarship amount, previous scholarships received, and other profile-related questions.
    • Fill in all mandatory fields carefully before moving to the next section.
  • Step 9: Upload the Required Documents
    • Upload all the required documents in PDF format, including your photograph, identity proof, income proof, bank passbook, academic documents, fee receipt, student ID or bonafide certificate, and other category-specific documents.
    • Ensure that all uploaded documents are clear and readable.
  • Step 10: Verify Mobile Number and Aadhaar
    • Verify your registered mobile number using the OTP received on your phone.
    • Next, complete Aadhaar verification through DigiLocker by providing your Aadhaar number, verifying the OTP, and granting the required consent to fetch your Aadhaar details.
  • Step 11: Preview and Submit the Application
    • Carefully review all the information entered in the application form.
    • After confirming that all details are correct, accept the declaration and consent, then click "Submit Application."
    • Once submitted, note down or save your Application ID for future reference and to track your application status.
