Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
When the main earning member of a family passes away, the whole family is deeply affected. During such a difficult time, support from loved ones matters a lot—but now, the government also steps in to help. Through the National Family Benefit Scheme, poor families who have lost their sole breadwinner (aged 18 to 60) receive financial assistance to ease their burden during these sensitive moments.
Under this scheme, families living below the poverty line who have lost their primary earner are provided with a one-time compensation of ₹30,000 to help them cope with the sudden loss. To receive this support from government, applicants must complete the process online.
To qualify, the family's annual income must not exceed Rs 56,460 in urban areas and Rs 46,080 in rural areas. The compensation is paid only after the death of the primary or sole earning member of the family, providing crucial financial support during this difficult time.
The NFBS is designed to provide timely relief during one of life's most sensitive and challenging moments, offering financial support to help families recover and move forward while honoring the memory of their loved one.
