Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

During pregnancy and childbirth, both the mother and the newborn baby require special healthcare and medical attention. However, many women from economically weaker families are unable to access timely health services, which can negatively affect the health of both the mother and the child. To reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and to promote safe institutional deliveries, the Government of Uttarakhand operates various healthcare services and support schemes.

The State Government provides the 108 Ambulance Service to help pregnant women reach hospitals and the 102 Vehicle Service to transport mothers and newborns back home after delivery. In addition, government hospitals provide free registration, health check-ups, medicines, meals, and other necessary facilities to pregnant women.

To further strengthen these efforts, the Government of Uttarakhand has launched the Uttarakhand Eija Boi Shagun Yojana. The objective of the scheme is to encourage women to choose government hospitals for childbirth and to promote the health and safety of both mothers and newborn babies.

Under this scheme, eligible women of Uttarakhand who deliver their child in a government hospital and stay in the hospital for at least 48 hours after delivery are provided an incentive amount of ₹2,000. The amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary woman's bank account.

The scheme is being implemented by the Medical Health and Family Welfare Department, Uttarakhand. To receive the benefit, the beneficiary woman must provide her Aadhaar card and bank account details to the hospital. After verification of eligibility, the incentive amount is transferred directly to her bank account.

The Uttarakhand Eija Boi Shagun Yojana is part of the state's broader efforts to improve maternal and child welfare. Families may also explore schemes such as the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mahalakshmi Kit Scheme, which supports mothers and newborns after delivery, the Mukhyamantri Bal Poshan Yojana, which focuses on improving children's nutritional status, and the Nanda Gaura Yojana, which encourages the welfare and future development of girl children. Together, these schemes provide support at different stages of a child's early life and a mother's journey.

Steps to Apply
