West Bengal Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme

Introduction

• Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme is the flagship scheme of the Government of West Bengal for the household women.
• It was launched in the year of 2021.
• Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare is the nodal department of this scheme.
• The main objective behind starting Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the household women to meet the daily needs expenses.
• This will help the household women to bear the expenses incurred on their daily needs.
• This scheme is also called "West Bengal Laxmir Bhandar Scheme" or "West Bengal Lakshmir Bhandar Yojana" or "West Bengal Lakshmir Bhandar Prakalpa".
• Government of West Bengal now provided monthly financial assistance to all eligible women under Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• Initially in Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme, monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000/- per month was provided to eligible Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Women and Rs. 500/- per month was provided to other category women beneficiary who are not belong to SC/ST Category.
• But from the year 2024-2025, West Bengal Government make an amendment in Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme and increased the financial assistance.
• Now, Schedule Tribe and Schedule Caste Category Women Beneficiary will get Rs. 1,200/- per month in place of Rs. 1,000/- under Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• On the other hand, remaining women beneficiary other than SC/ ST will get Rs. 1,000/- per month in place of Rs. 500/-.
• Government of West Bengal increased Rs. 200/- per month for SC/ ST Women Beneficiary and Rs. 500/- per month for other women beneficiary under Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• At present more than 2 Crore 11 Lakh Women are getting the benefit of financial assistance per month under West Bengal Government's Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• For smooth implementation, Government of West Bengal allocate additional budget of Rs. 12,000/- crore for this scheme.
• Only those Women Beneficiary whose Age is between 25 years to 60 years are eligible to get monthly financial assistance under Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• When women beneficiary attains the age of 60 years, Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme benefits will automatically transferred to Old Age Pension Scheme.
• Women receiving regular salary or pension will not be eligible under this scheme.
• Eligible Women Beneficiary can apply for monthly financial assistance by filling Application Form of West Bengal Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• Online Application Status of Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme can be seen on West Bengal Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme Official Portal.

Benefits of Scheme

• The following financial assistance will be provided all eligible Women Beneficiaries under Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme of Government of West Bengal :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,200/- per month to Schedule Caste/ Tribe Women.
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,000/- per month to Women other than Schedule Caste/ Tribe.

Eligibility Criteria

• Women Beneficiary should be a resident of West Bengal.
• The Age of Women Beneficiary should be between 25 years to 60 years.
• Women Beneficiary should not be a permanent or retired employee of any of the categories mentioned below :-
  • Central Government.
  • State Government.
  • Statutory Body.
  • Government Undertaking.
  • Panchayats.
  • Municipal Corporation.
  • Municipalities.
  • Local Body.
  • Teaching or Non Teaching staff of Government aided Educational Institutions.
• Women Beneficiary should not be a recipient of regular salary or pension.

• The following documents is needed at the time of applying for financial assistance under West Bengal Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme :-
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Swasthyasathi Card.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Schedule Caste/ Tribe Certificate.
  • Bank Passbook Copy.
  • Self Declaration Form.

How to Apply

• The only way to apply for Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme is through Application Form.
• Duare Sarkar Camp will be organised by the Government from time to time to distribute Application Form of Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• Eligible applicants can collect the Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme Application Form from these camps.
• After receiving the Application Form, personal details have to be filled in the Application Form.
• The camp members will assist the applicant in filling the Application Form of Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• Copies of the following documents will be attached with the Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme Application Form :-
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Swasthyasathi Card.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Schedule Caste/ Tribe Certificate.
  • Bank Passbook Copy.
  • Self Declaration Form.
• The complete Application Form along with the documents attached will be submitted in the camp.
• After receiving the Application Form from the applicant, the Acknowledgement Receipt will be given by the camp authorities.
• The information of the applicants will be uploaded by the Block Development Officer or Sub-Divisional Officer on the Lakshmir Bhandar Portal.
• After that the Application Form and Documents will be scrutinised thoroughly.
• The Applications found correct in the scrutiny will be forwarded for sanction to the District Magistrate.
• The information about the acceptance and rejection of the application will send to the mobile number of the applicant.
• Women Beneficiary can check the Application Status of Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme Online with the help of Application ID/ Mobile Number/ Swasthya Sathi Card Number/ Aadhar Number.

Features of the Scheme

• Swasthyasathi Card is mandatory to avail the benefit of West Bengal Lakshmir Bhadar Scheme.
• Applicant will be provisionally registered if she don't have a Swasthyasathi Card.
• The application forms of West Bengal Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme will be available free of cost at Duare Sarkar Camps.
• Recipients of regular salary or pension are not eligible to avail the benefit of Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme.
• Penal action shall be taken against the applicant if the information or documents provided found to be false.
• Financial Assistance will be only transfer to the bank account of the eligible adult female member of the family.
• The Commissioner of Kolkata Municipal Corporation is the sanctioning authority for the applicants residing under the limits of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
• For the remaining area, District Magistrate will be the sanctioning authority.
