Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme is a popular scholarship programme for students pursuing technical education in India. It is one of the major AICTE Scholarship schemes available through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The scholarship is implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is available for eligible Degree and Diploma students studying in AICTE-approved institutions. Through this AICTE Scholarship, selected students receive financial assistance of ₹50,000 per year to continue their higher education without financial burden.

The Swanath Scholarship Scheme has been introduced to support students facing difficult family circumstances. The scholarship is available for orphan students, students whose one or both parents died due to Covid-19, wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces personnel martyred in action (Shaheed). Along with this, students whose parent is suffering from a critical life-threatening disease or became severely disabled in an accident are eligible. Students from families with an annual income of up to ₹8 lakh can apply for this scholarship scheme, subject to fulfillment of all eligibility conditions.

Under the AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme, a total of 2,000 scholarships are awarded every year. Out of these, 1,000 scholarships are reserved for Degree students and 1,000 scholarships are reserved for Diploma students. The scholarship amount can be used for payment of college fees, purchase of books, stationery, computers, software, and other educational requirements. Degree students can receive scholarship benefits for up to four years, while Diploma students can receive benefits for up to three years.

Eligible students can submit the Swanath Scholarship online application through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Applications are verified by the institution and concerned authorities before final selection. The scholarship is renewable every year through NSP, subject to academic progression and compliance with scheme guidelines. The scholarship amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

For the academic session 2026-27, the Swanath Scholarship application process started on 1 June 2026. Eligible students can apply online through the National Scholarship Portal until 31 October 2026. Students seeking an AICTE scholarship for technical education should complete their application before the last date to avoid missing the opportunity.
