Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
Agriculture and dairy farming are important sources of income in rural areas, but starting a large-scale dairy business requires high investment and proper infrastructure. Many farmers and unemployed youth are unable to enter this sector due to financial constraints and lack of resources.
To address this gap, the Government of Madhya Pradesh launched the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana to promote dairy entrepreneurship and strengthen rural livelihoods.
Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided in the form of loans ranging from ₹36 lakh to ₹42 lakh per unit, enabling beneficiaries to set up dairy units with 25 high-yielding cattle. The support is structured and released in stages over 18 months, ensuring proper utilization of funds and gradual business development.
By combining financial support with infrastructure, insurance, and livestock management, the scheme helps farmers build a stable and sustainable income source, even during challenging conditions.
In addition to this initiative, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has introduced several complementary schemes to strengthen the dairy and livestock ecosystem. Programs like the Mukhyamantri Dairy Plus Yojana focus on improving dairy value chains and market access, while the Mukhyamantri Dudharu Pashu Praday Yojana supports farmers by providing high-quality milch animals to enhance productivity. At the same time, the Gausevak Prashikshan Yojana aims to build skilled manpower by offering training in scientific cattle management. Together, these initiatives create a supportive environment for farmers and entrepreneurs, ensuring not just financial assistance but also access to resources, skills, and sustainable growth opportunities in the dairy sector.
