Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

Madhya Pradesh Sardar Patel Coaching Prashikshan Yojana, also known as the Sardar Patel Coaching Yojana, is a flagship educational assistance scheme implemented by the Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The scheme provides free coaching for competitive examinations to eligible youth belonging to the Other Backwards Class (OBC) and Minority Communities. Through this initiative, the State Government aims to improve educational opportunities, increase the success rate in competitive examinations, and create better employment opportunities for deserving students.

Under the Madhya Pradesh Sardar Patel Coaching Yojana, the Government bears the entire coaching fee and provides coaching through Government-approved coaching institutes. Depending on the examination selected, the coaching duration ranges from 4 months to 24 months. Eligible students may also receive a stipend as prescribed under the scheme guidelines. In addition, eligible outstation students receive ₹1,000 per month as Home Rent Assistance for the entire coaching period. Stipend and Home Rent Assistance are transferred directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, subject to the prescribed conditions.

The Sardar Patel Coaching Prashikshan Yojana covers coaching for UPSC Civil Services, MPPSC, SSC, Banking, Railway Recruitment, JEE, NEET, CLAT, CUET, and other Government-approved competitive examinations. Applicants must be permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh, belong to the OBC or Minority category, be 17 to 40 years of age, and fulfil the prescribed educational qualification and family income criteria. Eligible candidates are selected based on merit and other conditions notified by the Department.

As announced in the Madhya Pradesh Budget 2026-27, the Government has set a target to benefit around 4,500 students under the Sardar Patel Coaching Yojana. Eligible candidates can receive free coaching, expert academic guidance, study support, stipend, and other admissible benefits after successful selection under the scheme.

Apart from the Sardar Patel Coaching Yojana, the Madhya Pradesh Government also operates several educational welfare schemes for OBC and Minority students, including the Shiksha Protsahan Puraskar Yojana, the Shaikshanik Chatravriti Yojana, and the Shaurya Sankalp Prashikshan Yojana, which together promote higher education, scholarships, and competitive examination preparation for eligible students across the state.
