Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Uttarakhand Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana is a flagship sports scholarship scheme launched by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2022 to identify and encourage talented young athletes across the state. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Sports, Uttarakhand and provides financial assistance to selected players so that they can continue their sports training without financial constraints. Every year, the Uttarakhand Government selects 2,600 promising athletes, including 1,300 boys and 1,300 girls, from all 13 districts of the state. Players between the age of 14 years and 23 years who participate in notified sports disciplines can apply for the scheme, subject to fulfilling the prescribed eligibility conditions. Selection is carried out through a transparent district-level merit-based process consisting of application scrutiny, Physical Efficiency Tests, Game-Specific Skill Tests, and preparation of separate merit lists for each age group and gender. The scholarship remains valid for one year, after which fresh selection is conducted through a new application process.

To make the application process more convenient, the Department of Sports now invites online applications through the official Khelo Uttarakhand Portal. Eligible athletes can register on the portal, complete the online application form, upload the required documents, and participate in the selection process after verification by the concerned authorities. Applicants whose applications are found eligible are invited to appear for the prescribed physical fitness and sports skill assessments before the final district-wise merit list is prepared.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand.
• The applicant's age should be between 14 years and 23 years.
  • Age will be calculated as of 1st July of the relevant selection year.
• The applicant must participate in one of the sports covered under the scheme.
• The applicant must qualify in the prescribed selection trials.
• Players already receiving similar sports scholarship or residential training facilities from the State Government or the Sports Authority of India (SAI) are not eligible.
• Applicants should apply from their own district.
  • Students studying in another district may also apply there by submitting the required educational or residence proof.

List of Physical Efficiency Tests

Eligible applicants have to appear in the Physical Efficiency Tests and Game-Specific Skill Test conducted by the Sports Department as part of the selection process. These tests assess the player's speed, strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, and sport-specific skills before the final merit list is prepared.

Selection Process

• The Sports Department scrutinises all submitted applications and verifies the eligibility of applicants.
• Eligible applicants are invited to participate in the Physical Efficiency Tests and Game-Specific Skill Test conducted by the District Sports Office.
• Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their performance in the prescribed physical fitness tests and sport-specific skill assessment.
• Marks obtained in the Physical Efficiency Tests, Game-Specific Skill Test, and sports achievements are considered while preparing the district-wise merit list.
• A separate district-wise merit list is prepared for each age group and for boys and girls.
• The final list of selected athletes is approved by the District Level Selection Committee.
• Selected players are informed by the concerned District Sports Office and enrolled under the Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana.
• After selection, the scholarship and sports equipment assistance are released directly into the beneficiary's bank account through DBT.

Number of Candidates Selected by Age Group

Under the Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana, selected players are divided into four age groups. Each district selects an equal number of boys and girls from every age category.

• Click on the registration option and create a new account by providing the required details, such as your name, mobile number, email ID, and other requested information.
• After successful registration, log in to the portal using your registered mobile number or email ID along with your password.
• Select Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana from the list of available schemes and open the online application form.
• Fill in all the required details, including your personal information, address, sports achievements, educational details, and bank account information.
• Upload the prescribed documents in the specified format and verify that all information entered is correct.
• Submit the application online and save or print the acknowledgement/registration number for future reference.
• The submitted application will be scrutinised and verified by the concerned Sports Department officials.
