Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

The Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Svadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana is a dairy development scheme being implemented under the Nand Baba Milk Mission. The scheme provides financial assistance to eligible livestock rearers, dairy farmers, and agricultural households for establishing a dairy unit consisting of two indigenous cows. Under the scheme, beneficiaries can receive a subsidy of 40% of the approved project cost, subject to a maximum limit of ₹80,000. The initiative supports the purchase of high-yield indigenous breeds such as Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, and Haryana cows, helping farmers improve milk production and generate additional income through dairy farming.

Mukhyamantri Svadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana is one of the flagship schemes being implemented under the Nand Baba Milk Mission. The mission also includes programmes such as Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, Mini Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Pragatisheel Pashupalak Protsahan Yojana. Women livestock rearers are given special preference, and 50% of the scheme targets have been earmarked for women beneficiaries. To receive the benefits, applicants must be permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh and at least 18 years of age. The applicant should have adequate facilities for maintaining the animals and must comply with animal identification requirements such as ear tagging. The purchased cows must be covered under mandatory first-year animal insurance, and beneficiaries are required to renew the insurance annually for the following two years. If the number of eligible applications exceeds the district target, beneficiaries may be selected through an e-lottery process as per the scheme guidelines.

When the scheme was launched, applications were accepted through an offline process. The Dairy Development Department has now enabled online registration and application facilities through the Nand Baba Milk Mission Portal. Interested applicants can register on the portal, log in to their account, select Mukhyamantri Svadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana, complete the online application form, and upload the required documents. After verification of the application and dairy unit, the approved subsidy amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
• The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
• The applicant should be engaged in dairy farming, animal husbandry, or agriculture, or be willing to establish a dairy unit under the scheme.
• The applicant must have adequate space and basic facilities for rearing indigenous cows.
• The applicant should not already possess two or more indigenous cows of the eligible breeds covered under the scheme.
• The dairy unit must be established with eligible indigenous breeds such as Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, and Haryana cows as prescribed under the scheme.

• After logging in, select Mukhyamantri Swadeshi Gau Samvardhan Yojana from the list of available schemes.
• Carefully fill in the online application form with details such as personal information, Aadhaar number, address, land details, livestock information, and bank account details.
• Upload the required documents in the prescribed format and size.
• Review all the information entered in the application form and submit the application online.
• After successful submission, save or print the application acknowledgement and reference number for future use.
• The concerned district authorities will verify the application and uploaded documents.
• If the number of eligible applications exceeds the district-wise target, beneficiaries will be selected through an e-lottery process.
• Selected applicants will receive approval from the department and can proceed with the establishment of the dairy unit under the scheme.
• After purchasing the eligible indigenous cows and completing the required formalities, the beneficiary must submit the subsidy claim along with the prescribed documents.
